We now know that HY does not know any Europeans or really anyone from other "major countries." By and large, they do not have US jealousy.

I am far more in tune with American politics than almost everyone in America, much less in Europe. I’m not saying that to toot my own horn because that goes for all the regular posters here. We talk about this shit even when it isn’t election season.

You just don’t like my politics, and that’s fine. But don’t go full liberal on me and start thinking that means I’m ill-informed and don’t know the differences between the candidates, lol

Just a reminder. The sentence I thought was so ridiculous was “I'd guess MOST Europeans know the difference in the two candidates waaaaay more than your average American”

I don't think you're ill-informed. I think you know exactly who Donald Trump really is. You just don't think he'll do all the things he's been promising to do. And that seems to me to be a form of ignorance that's much worse than lack of information.

You’re in the top 5% of well informed Americans. I spoke with a family member yesterday who I consider smart, college grad and he had no idea what dobbs was or that Roe was overturned. I was taken aback.

My anecdotal evidence is my European friends/coworkers all knew about this issue and which candidate stands for which.

LOL you think that 96% of Danes said they would choose Harris over Trump because for some reason, in this silly poll that has no meaning whatsoever, they all concluded that Trump would actually be a better president than Harris but that they needed to vote against Trump because they secretly want the US to fall apart so Denmark can say it's a better country?

I mean this is hilarious because we're arguing over this silly meaningless thing that I just posted as a lark, but you still managed to come up with the strangest take possible on the data. Western Europe - which to this day heavily depends on the USA for its geopolitical safety and stability - is somehow uniformly rooting for the US to fail so they can turn their noses up at us? LOL

Also, if you don't want to live in any of the countries on that list, where in the world would you want to live if not the US? Somewhere less democratic, perhaps?

Those countries where Harris is strongly preferred are not our rivals. They are our allies. And they strongly prefer Harris over Trump because he has said and done a number of things that lead them to believe that he would would compromise their national security. It has very little, if anything, to do with conservatism or liberalism. They don’t care so much about our domestic issues. They care about us being dependable allies. And you can see that those countries at the top are very close to Russia, geographically speaking. They have heard/read Trump’s comments and see what Putin has done. There’s a reason those countries are at the top of the list of those that prefer Harris.

My parents just got back from Ireland. There was concern over there regarding our (then) upcoming presidential election. One of the people they met there sort of joked with my parents that the Irish have finally made peace with being forced to learn English, so didn’t want to now have to learn Russian.

A lot of HY2012's assumptions about politics and life are basically predicated on the notion that he is representative of the average/median voter and citizen.

Agreed.

Trump has voiced that he wants Scandinavians to emigrate to the USA.

The problem with that? Few Scandinavians want to emigrate to the US.
