After dealing with my MAGA family members for going on a decade now, There's a very cynical part of me that sometimes thinks to myself, "fuck 'em - let Trump win and let these people get what they think they want so badly, and when it goes to shit, let it sink in to the ones who have a conscience that they did this."
Of course, I certainly don't want him to win. I just feel like we're going to be fighting Trumpism from here on out, even after Trump is gone/dead, and that pervasive thought is just exhausting.
Oh, you would. A Trump presidency would be a calamity right from the get go. The level of tariffs he's now talking about would cause an instant recession, probably on 2008 levels. The stock market would plummet. Inflation would go through the roof. This is my problem. As a young, straight, white man I'd probably face no repercussions from a trump presidency (assuming it did eventually end). But there's one recurring thought in my head: "The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing."
You may be right, but in my time on hard right sites the white-liberal-male is literally enemy #1.This is my problem. Yeah, we all know about the Trumper's fear and loathing of racial and ethnic minorities and darker-skinned immigrants, but they also loathe and are filled with resentment towards white liberals (the old "yuppies" category) too. They have a college degree, they often make more money and live in bigger and nicer homes, and nearly everything about them (men and women) drives Trumpers nuts. If they're a white teacher or professor it's even worse, and if they're not married or have kids if they're a white woman that may be the worst of all. It's as if they see these people as race traitors - liberal white women because they're not having kids to keep up the white population (and because they won't accept being subordinate to men) and liberal white men because they're traitors to traditional, John Wayne macho masculinity. If Trump wins I don't think white liberals are safe at all from the petty vindictiveness and resentment of Trumpers. You may be right, but in my time on hard right sites the white-liberal-male is literally enemy #1.
He will be appoinying lifetime judges., dismantle EPA (you do breath the air, drink the water), Education, trying his best to cut all kinds of services (SS/Medicare) included. No telling how he would screw up foreign relations. Tariffs, economy. You say it won't affect you, but to quote Joni MitchellThis is my problem. As a young, straight, white man I'd probably face no repercussions from a trump presidency (assuming it did eventually end). They don't have a conscience. Thats the first requirement in the cognitive dissonance process of voting for Trump. After dealing with my MAGA family members for going on a decade now, There's a very cynical part of me that sometimes thinks to myself, "fuck 'em - let Trump win and let these people get what they think they want so badly, and when it goes to shit, let it sink in to the ones who have a conscience that they did this."

Agreed. If Trump gets elected and everything goes to hell, then the vast majority of his supporters won't admit that they were wrong. Instead they'll find some way to blame Democrats for it all, and Trump and his minions will do everything they can to deflect all the blame onto the Democrats. It's who we are now. They don't have a conscience. Thats the first requirement in the cognitive dissonance process of voting for Trump.
Unless no major global event happens and you are in the top 1% of the company or you don't have an unfortunate pregnancy around you, or national pride. This is my problem. I used to think this was true but if Trump tries to deport millions of people and institutes a blanket tariff on all imported goods I’m worried about my 401k and retirement plans. This is my problem. The Harris campaign said back in August that they thought Arizona was the least likely battleground State for themPod Save America talked about if Biden had 1% less support from Latinos, he would have lost Arizona. Harris is doing worse with Latinos than Biden. Arizona looking out of reach to me.
Yeah I imagine some rural Arizona sheriff who pulls you over for speeding will trust that you are an America citizen, and not call the goon squad to take you to the deportation camp.Latinos wanting to test the 'leopards eating faces' theory by voting Trump. It's hard to imagine a more vulnerable ethnic group, but here we are.
