This may be a semantic/pedantic questions, but if the majority of Americans believe something doesn't that mean that the issues they believe in are the center? That's kind of a scary thought considering what so many maga voters (although hopefully they don't constitute a majority of all voters) believe...

True, but he’s trying to win Michigan. Firing up the opposition in the biggest city in the state to get out and vote against you is probably not a great strategy.
I could be wrong, but I think politics in Michigan is the same as in Missouri, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, etc. The way to win the state as a Republican is to run against the black people in the cities. They try to make everything into Detroit, Cleveland, Philly, etc. because they know those words mean "black." I'm confident that Trump will lose few votes in Michigan with that comment. Will it spur black people in Detroit to turn out? I doubt it.

As someone else posted, by election day in November he'll be promising to do away with taxes completely and claim that he'll fund everything via record-high tariffs on imports. By this point he's in full pandering on steroids mode.
And yet one of our resident Pubs loves to claim unironically that Kamala is trying to buy votes via policy.
