Yep. Shockingly, it turns out that the great plurality of people who watched Trump's speech were his supporters. People who didn't support him found other, more productive things to do instead of listening to his insults and rambling and bragging on himself for a record 1 hour and 40 minutes. And since the CBS poll only polled people who watched the speech, the respondents not surprisingly loved it.
Precisely. It's like asking the superfans who just paid through the nose for a concert what they thought of the concert. Of course they love it, they're superfans. Meanwhile, the rest of us wouldn't watch Trump for any sum.

Especially alarming for Democrats were findings around voters’ views of Democrats and work. Just 44 percent of those polled said they think Democrats respect work, while even fewer — 39 percent — said the party values work. Only 42 percent said Democrats share their values. A majority, meanwhile — 56 percent — said Democrats are not looking out for working people.

Only 39 percent believe Democrats have the right priorities.

In the Navigator survey of 62 competitive House districts across the country, voters said they trust Republicans over Democrats on handling the economy by a 5-point margin, 46 percent to 41 percent. Voters also trust Republicans more than Democrats by a 7-point margin on responding to inflation, 44 percent to 37 percent.

Ouch!!

A majority of voters in battleground House districts still believe Democrats in Congress are “more focused on helping other people than people like me,” according to an internal poll conducted by the Democratic group Navigator Research. Among independents, just 27 percent believe Democrats are focused on helping them, compared with 55 percent who said they’re focused on others.

I don't see a turn around soon. Its like the dem party is doubling down on what got them to this point.

Seriously? This is what you choose to finally post about - and not all of the increasingly unpopular and frightening shit that your party's leader and Co-President Musk are doing to the country? The shit that polls show more and more people are opposing? I hate to tell you this, but if Dear Leader and his Co-President Musk continue on their current path Democrats won't have to do anything to recover - your party will do it for them.

ETA: Just saw the CNN poll. I thought Trump's handling of the economy was one of his greatest strengths according to Trumpers. Doesn't seem to be one anymore. I sincerely hope that your party runs on Trump's handling of the economy next year!

Will there be any point when the cult will break from their MAGA God-King? I don't see it happening. These people will stand by their MAGA Savior even if he kicked in their front door, took a Cleveland steamer on the living room floor, and shot Mamaw in the fucking face.

The economic pain from all of these cuts has barely started to settle in, especially on his supporters. Give it until the end of the year and let's see what they're saying. Some will continue to live in denial, but as things become more desperate a few may finally break ranks, as we've seen with some recent articles with people saying they won't support him anymore after they lost their job and are looking at losing their house and maybe everything. I do think you're right in that the great majority will stick with him, but the fear is that they will simply take their anger out on others, probably vulnerable minorities. It happened in the Great Depression when some whites took their own misery and suffering out on the black community - the number of lynchings went up in the 30s.

Pretty far, I would assume.

The question for Trump is does he have a bounce back in him? I think he probably will get one when they eventually pass his tax cuts and maybe if Ukraine ever gets to a peace deal, but how long will it be before then?

Maybe one day we will look back and say wow, Trump’s decision to go from 0 to 60 on the politically negative scale during what is usually a honeymoon period really paid off — but right now he seems to be having a bonfire of his political capital assuming his supply is unlimited. And with about 38-42% of the country, it probably is. MAGA true-believers would probably cry with joy if Trump personally drove a Tesla through their wall and burned down their own house and then claim Bidenomics was the cause of their subsequent suffering.

Reagan’s approval rating sunk to 35% in 1982 but by 1984 it was morning in America. And Trump doesn’t have to worry about running for reelection.

Reagan fought communist Russia, he didn't join them...

I remember polls prior to the election showed that the majority of those polled thought Trump would better handle the economy. And I was like, “Why the fuck would anybody think that?”
Because so many people have been indoctrinated w the “Republicans are pro business” bs for decades. I listen to CNBC a lot every day and they have reporters and pundits saying that all of the time which specifically implies that Dems are anti business. Their hypothesis is that Pubs favor deregulation and lowering taxes so that is why they are pro business. I always want to scream that that argument is ridiculous because there is always going to be a push and pull w regulation. If the scale falls too far in either direction it is bad for business.
