Manek had 20 in his first game, Withers opened last year starting with a double-double and had 11-9 at Kansas.

But both were remarkable inconsistent and and took considerably more time to develop. Less an analysis of them than just reminding people that patience really can be a virtue . I only picked them because ,as a more casual fan these days, I remembered that they didn't stand out as a great start overall, not that I remembered exactly what they did do. It's entirely possible I misjudged one or all of the three.

Evans was always option 6 or 8 or something and we took him after the PGs we really wanted turned us down.

I don't think HD really wanted to Evans to be his PG this year, but you gotta work with who you can get.

Plus think Evans is a diffident PG with Trimble in the lineup.

Evans shot 44% from 3 last season. He's struggling now, but let's see how he's doing in a few weeks.

It's hard to judge too much a game that was played on a skating rink.

I actually think Luka is fine defensively, he's certainly better than Evans. If you watch him he plays great denial defense and is almost always in the right spots. Evans can't stay in front of his man, gets beat all the time.

Evans was really poor tonight, hopefully he can turn it around. Seems like the staff started to run the offense through Luka in the 2nd, they may be losing faith in Evans.
 
They are still a good team with Wilson, Veesaar, and Luka, and better when Trimble gets back. But the 3 point shooting and lack of contribution from the bench is going to be a problem when they play quality teams like MSU.

Lol quite the apples and oranges comparison.

In any event not having a true PG and nothing in the frontcourt in the bench will be the downfall of this team. Throw in bad shooting nights and it's likely to be another disappointing season.

Those things could improve. Although, the front court depth chart a going to be tough

- We've got to shoot better from 3, 17% is abysmal.
- We've got to rebound better.
- We've got to stop teams from getting good shots, we gave up so many shots 8' and closer to the basket.
- We've got to figure out some way to manufacture points in the half court.

That was ugly over the 8 minutes. Really, really ugly.

Also, we've got to figure out the backup 5 situation as neither Brown nor High are it. It's almost going to have to be Stevenson and we might as well get to it.

Have to wait for Trimble to get back for Stevensen to come off the bench. Then again, Stevensen, Wilson, Veesaar, Trimble and Luka are the best 5. The lack of a bench is really going to hurt them against quality teams.
 
Evans was -24 for the game. While that wasn’t the only reason for the loss, it was a big part.
He’s got to make shots because he just doesn’t do enough otherwise. He and Luka missed some wide open 3’s. He had some terrible fouls and TO’s.

Caleb needs to pick his spots. Forced it several times. Overall, I really like this team. UK will be tough without Seth.
