We disagree on this too. You’re really losing your way.
I'm sorry that you can apparently only see things in a binary way where we either have a moral coach or a successful coach.

You'd think that our decades under Dean and Roy would have shown you that both are possible.

I think that Carolina has shown it is good enough to have both, I'm sorry you don't have those kinds of high aspirations for the program.

A good coach and a good man are two different things. You can be both, though. I think Hubert might be better as a person than a coach.
Of course you can be both.

I hope you believe he’s a better man coach since it’s obvious you think he’s a horrible coach.

In terms of character I don't want Bruce Pearl or Calipari under any circumstance but Dean Smith and Roy Williams are pretty high standards to meet. And Hubert's obsession with cursing concerns me. All smart people curse they ass off.

So who do you want as the next coach? Name your guy and don’t say Wes Miller again.

Well, things are different today. No use in even trying to be consistently successful. Just the way it is now.

No, all smart people do not curse their ass off. Where’d you get that?

I believe the biggest mistake you and others are making is thinking that a new coach would make everything all better.

It was a joke and bless your heart. But the point is I agree with Snoop. We don't need the Pope running our program. A normal dude who is not a complete slimeball is just fine with most people.

Never said it would make everything all better, but you can't stay with a coach if things aren't getting better and you aren't having good seasons consistently.

Who’s your guy?
My guy would be Mark Few. He hasn't been interested in leaving Gonzaga yet but he's getting older and is probably the best coach out there without a natty. NIL is gonna make keeping Gonzaga at the top very difficult. He may want to go out on top with a program that has the resources he needs. And he has run a clean and succesful program for a very long time.

Nope, bigs wouldn't want him...he had a dwi.

Really? If they miss the tournament for a second time in three years and they don't improve next year then he will most likely be gone.
He hasn’t missed the tournament this year or next year yet.

If that were to happen I’d expect Hubert to resign.

Few would be great. Do you really think he’d leave Gonzaga?

I always hear Mark Few mentioned as a Carolina Coach. He doesn't appear to have the baggage that would disqualify him to me, though I'd prefer a Carolina alum like Wes Miller. Frankly, there are very few coaches that I know of who I would find acceptable. I'm watching Tennessee and Auburn play right now...Rick Barnes would be more acceptable than Bruce Pearl. The former having only native Tar Heel birth in his favor but Pearl is a 100% NO.

Watched Self go up against Sampson in the game before that. I'd rather not have either of them either.

So really, of all that were out there when Coach Davis was hired I guess only Steven Robinson, Wes Miller, or Mark Few could work for me. Carolina very much wanted to hire an African American coach so I really did hope that Coach Robinson would get the job. I don't think Few would have left Gonzaga so when for whatever reason Robinson was the One it was down to Miller or Davis. But Davis had been on the job in Chapel Hill, something that Miller had never done...and Davis is AFAM so all things considered the position went to Hubert Davis. I think for some folks his apolitical nature and "Christianity on the Sleeve" were plusses as well.

I explained in the post why he might leave Gonzaga. And there are rumors swirling he is thinking about retirement but if he was offered the right situation to keep him at the top I think he'd take it.

ETA: I don't think Gonzaga has a prayer of competing the way they have in the NIL era. That is the primary reason he would leave if he doesn't just retire completely.

Reading what I wrote I have to say that I would have probably been against the hiring of Frank McGuire so what do I know?
