I don’t recall coaches with Hubert’s resume being canned after 4 years.

Not sure it’s what UNC wants to put out there.

Wasn’t he ACC COY last year?
Seriously, when you watch games do you see a well coached team? Are their fundamentals sound? Do you believe our offense is structured appropriately given the players we have? Do you see any accountability in the program? If yes, then you see something most don't see. If no, then do you think it is all of a sudden going to get better? Hubert is a tremendous man. Would love for my sons to turn out like him. But he isn't a good coach and this isn't a charity situation. It isn't like he will be financially hurt. UNC owes it to DES, Roy, the players, and the fans to make the changes that are in the best interest of the program, not the man, regardless of how good of a man he is.

I’m skeptical of the harmful effects related to positivity in regards to college basketball.
That's on you for missing the issue, then. College basketball teams are like every other group endeavor, unwarranted positivity when folks can see the issues that aren't being addressed will undermine that group.

But I was more talking about sports message boards where toxic positivity makes some posters essentially trolls to everyone who doesn't share their outlook.

And, finally, it's interesting that you would make such a statement after posting a Ted Lasso gif as toxic positivity is a significant thread over the course of the show and one that doesn't reflect well on those who share unwarranted positivity.

Let’s get back to the thread topic: last night’s game and how it was predicted to go.

We were actually supposed to be in a very tight contest, with only a point or so for a predicted spread. And that’s exactly what happened. In my mind, I had us losing that game by a point or two. And I was spot on. Vegas thought we might pull it out by a point.

Wake had home court advantage… and they just beat Stanford by 13 points holding them to only 67 pts. Then, Stanford hands us a loss at home in the Dean Dome. Wake then holds us to only 66 pts (66 is all Wake yields on average for the season).

Now we all know the transitive property doesn’t actually mean much in sporting events, most especially in college basketball. But I think it may apply here. Not sure how anyone could think we were supposed to beat Wake at their place after looking at what just happened in the two Stanford games. Wake is on a roll… a nice winning streak. 6 in a row and 8 outta last 9 games.

Last night was no surprise to anyone who is paying attention.

The game we should have won - and the one that helps heat up Hubert’s office chair - was the Stanford game.

Accountability in what is in essence a 9 richter scale earthquake of change under the entire college basketball landscape? This is like Econ class in 2009 in that the curriculum is being rewritten based on new unprecedented developments every week. Everything is in a complete state of flux. Coaching CBB now is probably the hardest job it’s ever been by a factor of 10, and all the old schoolisms of accountability and loyalty are as good as model Ts. Coaches are like ship captains in an ocean that just turned from water to wind.

We’re just fans. Our attitudes have no impact on any of it.

Also, I don’t believe I’ve been overly “positive” about this team but I suppose anything that’s not complete doom and gloom is too much.

You told CF to just "believe" when he said he didn't see any reason to be optimistic about next year's squad.

Given the obvious issues facing this year's team and the undeniable questions about HD's coaching ability and the lack of a transformative player committed to next year's squad, such a trite response is overly positive.

???? What do you mean by this? I don't think you subscribe to the "everyone can choose their own reality" MAGA party line. Pretty sure you don't. So you meant something different here, I assume. I don't get it.
I should have said so is accepting reality.

Nobody knows what next year’s team will look like. This is the portal era.

What you also concluded. That, listening to his presser, it's clear that he is not ready for this position yet.

I didn't listen to the presser. I think we're talking around one another. As for the topic that this thread has settled into...I'm still pondering.
