It’s doable via the portal. This is still new territory.Isn't that what Louisville did, though?

Max OwensCan't believe I don't remember this, but who was the Carolina player everyone said (to the point of it becoming a meme) hit 3's in practice all the time (but very rarely in actual games)? Was it Orlando Melendez? Maybe it was always a joke about him hitting 3's in practice...
I think the concern is that HD/staff haven't done it yet (because they haven't had to do it) and given their past results it seems unlikely that they'll be able to do it.Isn't that what Louisville did, though?
Good point. What have you seen from the staff to indicate to you that they've learned and/or reflected on what they can do better, AND actually successfully implement it?Assuming everything is exactly the same and the staff hasn’t learned or reflected on what they can do better.
We’ll find out this offseason.Good point. What have you seen from the staff to indicate to you that they've learned and/or reflected on what they can do better, AND actually successfully implement it?
BrookerMax Owens
It's really been the same offense and defense since Hubert has been the coach. They talked about it on the IC podcast after the Wake Forest game about how he hasn't made adjustments on offense for the players he has to give them the best chance of winning and is like trying to fit a square peg in a round hole.Good point. What have you seen from the staff to indicate to you that they've learned and/or reflected on what they can do better, AND actually successfully implement it?
It’s certainly possible, I just think it’s a more difficult way to build a team. For every Louisville you also have a Kansas State, Arkansas, FSU football this season, etc. that really struggle.Isn't that what Louisville did, though?
Nah, it was Max. He was a fairly highly rated recruit who was known as a shooter. They always talked about how well he shit in practice, but his shot never looked that great in games.Brooker
It was both then. I heard that plenty about Michael Brooker.Nah, it was Max. He was a fairly highly rated recruit who was known as a shooter. They always talked about how well he shit in practice, but his shot never looked that great in games.
As a poster said earlier , to the best of my memory, it was Melendez that was notorious for tearing it up in practice.Nah, it was Max. He was a fairly highly rated recruit who was known as a shooter. They always talked about how well he shit in practice, but his shot never looked that great in games.
Of course it’s better to have quality returnees but rebuilding via the portal is a lot easier than thru HS players. It’s certainly possible, I just think it’s a more difficult way to build a team. You always said that about Roy too. It's really been the same offense and defense since Hubert has been the coach. I'm not the only one saying it.You always said that about Roy too.
Oh, and Roy was stubborn to stop helping so much on defense and leaving the other team wide open for the kick out 3. As far as the offense goes, at least he had more movement. You always said that about Roy too.
I'm not the only one saying it.
"UNC has consistently struggled on offense with a battery of really good guards who are all creative playmakers. They should be able to get more movement and create better matchups after a pass or two, after an off-ball screen or two. They just aren't putting the guards in motion enough. They've underachieved on offense all four seasons under Hubert Davis, even in 2022. UNC is trying to execute an offense that really isn't made for these rosters. Duke would do some of this stuff in the later Coach K era. They didn't have a lot of UConn-type screens; they would spread you out and let their guys go and make plays. But Carolina doesn't have that kind of talent. They need to recognize that earlier in the process. Now, they're stuck with this offense that was designed for RJ Davis and the other guys to make plays. The 'your turn, my turn' thing has been an issue all season."

You begged for an iso/dribble-drive offense when Roy was there.Oh, and Roy was stubborn to stop helping so much on defense and leaving the other team wide open for the kick out 3. As far as the offense goes, at least he had more movement.
What’s Harrington’s background? I truly don’t know.I'm not the only one saying it.

Sure, it will be definitive then. But, what have you personally seen from them that gives you the impression that they have learned/reflected and can implement the necessary changes? You are very high on the staff, why? We’ll find out this offseason.
