When the right invades a thread they perceive possesses too much ugly commentary about the right (whether consciously or sub-consciously experienced) everything becomes a "whatabout"/straw man. We can't keep the commentary and record keeping on the dozens upon dozens of dog whistles already hurled at Harris, and the dozens upon dozens to come, because "you know it is possible to be against Harris (and Obama) without being racist! It's the policies not their race!" Well, sir, this thread is about the overt and subtle racism that drives an absurd portion of right-wing media and right-wing politics (this is well studied). It's not a discussion on "if" this occurs, it's a discussion and when, what, and how much. Happy to have a Harris vs Trump policy discussion on a policy thread.

Euphemisms/tic phases such as "DEI hire", "low IQ", "those other people", "they're not like you", "animals", "evil", etc. are all regularly used by right-wing politicians and right-wing media to evince distinction between the overwhelmingly white, rural/exburban, and religious right-wing body politic with the racially diverse, urban, and less religious left (I recognize other factors exist). This isn't a new phenomenon, the words just change over time.

She was only picked as VP because of her race and gender.
Remove the word “only” from your sentence and you have a point. Her race and gender brought a lot to the table electorally, but the same will be true of her inevitably white male running mate. Just as his race and gender won’t magically obviate all of his other qualifications for the role, neither does it obviate all her other qualifications for the role.

The suggestion that the Former California Attorney General and former US Senator and sitting US Vice President brings no other qualifications to the job other than her race and gender is simultaneously wildly racist and wildly misogynistic.

Jennifer Aniston, 55, was seen getting coated in oil while filming Season 4 of her Apple TV+ hit, “The Morning Show,” in Manhattan on Sunday.

She was photographed getting splashed in the sticky, tar-like substance, looking angry as her white shirt and slacks got destroyed. …”

The article doesn’t say who did it or why (could be a climate change activist or a MAGA?) but goes on to detail her show and how she prepared for a steamy sex scene with Jon Hamm. 🤷‍♀️

What is it with these psychos and their obsession with other people's sex lives?
Poor little Laura having trouble finding fulfilment in her own sex life feels the need to make unsubstantiated statements about other people's?

She was an awful candidate that couldn't even get enough votes to make it to the primaries. OF COURSE she is where she is because of her gender and race, just as her VP choice will undoubtedly be a white male. It's not some horrible thing to acknowledge that, it's a political reality

“Awful” is relative in this case.
Are you saying the only reason the VP candidate gets picked is because he’s a white male?

I'm saying the candidate will have to fit that criteria. Unfortunately, he must likely also be straight, which will exclude secretary Buttigieg. He'd be my top pick for who could best run the country. He was in 2020 as well, at the top of the ticket.

Well if you lose the election it doesn’t matter who you ran.
