I remember a something from a while ago, that I am paraphasing -- In discussions of excuses for totalitarian abuses, such excuses are often rebutted by the expression, "If only Comrade Stalin knew . . .." A reinforcing follow-up that always rang true to me was, "No Jew in a German Concentration Camp ever said, 'If only Hitler knew.'" The foregiveness, understanding, and blame-shifting that MAGAs possess is unlimited and has no bottom.
Actually early on a lot of Jews thought that Hitler would put an end to the abuses perpetuated by the brown shirts.
Jared Kushner has shown Trump the value of high end resorts on that stretch of the eastern Mediterranean. The biggest hurdle to development is the presence of a million and a half people who oppose such a plan. So they need to be “cleaned out.”

I think I understand your point and sort of disagree. The point I disagree on is when those who worship at the altar of St. Donald of Mar-a-Lago actually had their "Come to Trump" moment. I genuinely don't believe anything really changed for them when they jointed. They believe now what they have always believed. It's just that now they have a national organization filling in the details and articulating the grievances that they have held close to their hearts all their lives. All their lives, the MAGA faithful have known that there is something, someone, somewhere who has prevented them from the glory, wealth, and respect in this life that they have always believed they deserved, but didn't have. The Trump apparatchiks have put MAGAs' feelings into words and legitimized those feelings. No MAGA has ever felt he or she got a fair deal in life. And now they think that the belief, that they clung to as an essential element of who they are, i.e., "It's not me, it's 'The Other,' who is responsible for my dissatisfaction with life," has been vindicated. The remaining card, to be turned over, is what happens when MAGAs realize, in the words of Pete Townsend, "Meet the new boss, same as the old boss." The one constant in a MAGA's life is that he or she will never accept that they, themselves, are authors of all of the failures, misfortune, and disappointments in their lives.
It always baffles me in circumstances like this how easy it is to find people to go in front of a camera to express surprise that a politician did exactly what s/he said would be done and was widely reported would be done. But how could I know? S/He didn’t tell me personally!
Or were only paying attention to media the right wing controls. Which is an absolutely enormous amount of the current media profile.
