For someone so concerned with impartiality, he exemplifies every defining characteristic of your typical MAGA cult member.
I think, more than anything, he wants to be proven right. He’s always denied being naga, but before the election, he said he secretly wanted Trump to win so we would see how hysterical we were being and that it wouldn’t be that bad.

Now, he has to find some way to justify every action by the administration. Otherwise, he has to admit that he was wrong.

Unfortunately, by digging his heels in he’s becoming more and more entrenched in maga.

I mean, it wouldn’t be any more ridiculous than following the guy out because you wanted to make a point of seeing what the guy was driving.
It was very important to you for some reason, so I thought it might be important for your research to make sure it was really his car. For your investigation.
In the moment, it was opportunistic curiosity. I've been in grocery stores thousands of times. Never once have I thought about or been actively interested in EBT. Other than this forum, I have never told the story.

Yet, you told the story as an example of people taking advantage of the system.

Zen has successfully high jacked the FAFO thread.
That's what happens when you reply to his nonsense. If you ignore it the thread moves forward, if you respond to it the thread inevitably circles the drain. He will make more and more outrageous claims to goad posters into responding. I don't care about "setting the record straight for lurkers" or "correcting obvious erroneous statements" for people reading this who might believe the bullshit. The only way to deal with it is to ignore it.

What is worse: Thread hijacked by the Mighty Zen or hijacked by an Eagles song written by Jackson Browne?
BTW: Zen is the Anti-Dude Lebowski. Zen ain't laid back, can't bowl worth a shit and he hates White Russian cocktails but ironically LOVES him some Vlad Putin - a white Russian.

Unless you are willing to believe a very unlikely story, That is certainly what it seems like.
I'm confused...

Are you now admitting that your story was very unlikely?

I never said you lied, I just don't believe you had enough information to use the story as you did.

But the welfare queen story is now new, I've heard it from so many people. And I've never heard one that had enough information they all relied on a certain level of worldview bias.

My Aunt and Uncle, die hard trump racist and maga cult members believe that their social security is going to go up significantly with the big stupid fucking bill passing, I want to send them the Times article I read detailing the big stupid bill doesn't cut SS taxes as trump the liar says it does. It's also interesting that he made the SS administration put out propaganda statements about the fucking stupid stinking bill.

Can you please link the NYT article.

President Trump and his subordinates have repeatedly claimed that the sweeping domestic policy package that just passed the Senate eliminates taxes on Social Security, promoting that as one of the chief merits of the bill as he tries to corral support for the politically divisive legislation.

Except the bill doesn’t eliminate Social Security taxes at all.

Instead, the bill creates a new, additional tax deduction specifically for seniors 65 and over that is designed to provide the most relief for people on limited income. But instead of promoting the new tax deduction, Mr. Trump has sought to rebrand it as an elimination of the Social Security tax, which he promised to do during his 2024 campaign.

I do not control the direction of the discussion. Sometimes discussions take a detour, then get back on track.

So
Many
Victims....

The welfare king story seems like the most likely explanation for what I saw. It takes very creative storytelling to come to a different conclusion.

“I am a conservative, I did vote for Trump in this last election, and I do want us to have a lean, efficient government, but there’s a point when you’ve gone too far — not pumping the bathrooms in common recreation areas is absolutely too far,” Powers Gardner said. “We have a federal government that tells us that they’re more competent at managing our local lands than we are, and yet they’re the ones who can’t figure out how to pump a toilet and we’re the ones spending our tax dollars on a land that they get the money for the recreators on. I mean, we really need to work better. We need to be better partners. We need to work together and we need to recognize that these are all our citizens that we’re serving.”

See, this is where I have to circle back. You started this whole thing with some version of saying that you're sure others have experienced the same thing as if this is a common occurrence that Americans can commiserate about. Now you're saying that in thousands of grocery store interactions, this is the first time that you've even thought about EBT. Can it really be both things? Can it be worth mention and some sort of shared social knowledge AND be something that you've never seen in thousands of other grocery store trips?
