So you give her a pass but not Newsom, even though she did violate the guidelines, while he didn’t? Sure seems like you have some kind of personal issue with him.
Pelosi gets street cred for all the hard work she did as a cat herder of Democrats for 30 years. She is a ruthless politician and probably not someone I would want to spend time with. But she was an excellent, excellent leader.

Newsom hasn’t shown .001% of the gravitas of Pelosi. Also, the skills to become president are totally different than the skills to become speaker. I obviously wouldn’t want Nancy running for President either.

Also, Pelosi wasn’t issuing Cal Covid guidelines. Newsom was directly involved and he was the primary public communicator of those guidelines. So it is not apples and oranges in terms of the hypocrisy.

So you are really going with that defense of Newsom? It’s not OK to eat Thanksgiving with MiMaw, but it is OK to eat with a lobbyist at a private event at an expensive restaurant in Napa (technically Yountville).

Yeah, that’s going to play well in the purple states.
I’m not defending him doing that, and neither did he. He said it was a bad idea to go. I am also not using it to discredit all of his other good moves. In fact, it’s ridiculous that you are.

I am pointing out your mistake in thinking he violated policies in place at the time of the dinner. He did not.

Fyi, Yountville is in Napa.

So you’re a hypocrite? You discredit all of Newsom’s good work for eating at a restaurant, yet don’t with Pelosi for getting a haircut.

It is in Napa Valley, but not in Napa.

What good work has Newsom done? He has a super majority in the legislature and has done nothing of note in his years in office. Our budget deficit is now over $20 billion a year. We have a train to nowhere.

Meanwhile, Newsom has decided to dabble in MAGA platforming:

I’m curious.

Are you a Democrat?

Left Democrat (Elizabeth Warren)?

Are you a Left-of-Center Independent? That would make you WAY LEFT of most Americans.

This isn’t a criticism, my best guess is you’re anti-Trump and a Reaganite-“Libertarian.”

I’m wondering why you hate Newsom so much…..I wrote him off as a legitimate national candidate with his French Laundry BS.

I just question his political astuteness; you HATE the guy?

Why the hate?

Speaking of covid, I think he did a good job helping us get through it. You disagree based solely on him eating at a restaurant, at a time when it was not against any policy and all guidelines were adhered to.

I hate fraudsters. It is one of the reasons I hate Trump so much. Trump doesn't believe a lot of the stuff he says, either (he hates nonwhites, of course, but he has to fake the other Republican talking points).

I also hate candidates that I don't think can win. And it pisses me off that an unelectable Gavin Newsom is using this moment to get a leg up on the primary competition.

My politics are largely mainline Democratic, with some views that are slightly more progressive and some that are slightly more moderate. On this board's scale, I'd imagine I'd be slightly right of average, but I'm not sure.

No, you said it is not in Napa county. It’s important because the guidelines I posted were for Napa county.
I definitely did not say that. Having spent more time than I would like in the Napa courthouse, I very much know the difference between Napa the City and Napa the County.

Did you think Biden could win a reelection? What about Kamala?

Who in their right mind would think you meant Napa the CITY when referring to Yountville not being in Napa? Of course it’s not, it’s a town.

No (at least not after the first debate) and no. I was strongly advocating for Andy Beshear or Gretchen Whitmer. But Biden essentially made that impossible when he immediately endorsed Kamala.
So, you hate them as well. I’ll go ahead and say that you hate Pete, AOC, and many others. It seems that your hate of democrats is strongly influenced by who the magats hate.

You have a legal background, right? Your posts are more logical than most.

For some reason, to me, you seem to HATE Gavin Newsom. To me, he’s kind of a non-descript politician - boring and who gives a fuck about him…….you hate him. Why?

I see him disappearing like that governor from Vermont who howled during a press conference - Howard Dean.

Gavin Newsom is mentioned as a candidate for POTUS BECAUSE he’s California’s Governor.

He doesn’t have “it.” He’ll be prominent for the next 18-24 months. He’ll stall out when he has to interact with voters.

I hope he hammers the fuck out of Trump and the GOP while he has media attention.
