And for the record... when I dress up as Superman, cape and all, I can assure you I'm not flying through the air, running faster than a speeding bullet or leaping tall buildings. Take that for what it's worth.
When you dress up as Superman, I can assure you Lois Lane is laughing her ass off.

Idaho Lawmakers Want Supreme Court to Overturn Same-Sex Marriage Decision

A state legislative committee has advanced a resolution asking that the power to regulate marriage be returned to the states.

“Since 1793, when the U.S. Supreme Court declined a request by President George Washington to offer legal guidance on foreign relations, the court’s justices have steered away from weighing in outside the context of a formal lawsuit.

That has not deterred lawmakers in Idaho, however. This week, a State House committee overwhelmingly passed a resolution calling on the Supreme Court to undo Obergefell v. Hodges, the landmark 2015 decision that gave same-sex couples the right to marry, and to hand the power to regulate marriage back to the states.

The resolution would still need approval by the full House and the Idaho Senate before any request could be sent to the Supreme Court. Both chambers in Idaho are controlled by Republicans.

“Since court rulings are not laws and only legislatures elected by the people may pass laws, Obergefell is an illegitimate overreach,” the resolution reads. It continues: “The Idaho Legislature calls upon the Supreme Court of the United States to reverse Obergefell and restore the natural definition of marriage, a union of one man and one woman.’’ …”
There are also other attempts (like the Kim Davis appeal) to get Obergefell in front of SCOTUS for reconsideration. And now a MAGA solicitor general can join the fray.

“Federal prosecutors have dropped charges against a surgeon in Texas who was accused of obtaining and sharing private medical information about gender-transition-related treatments for minors at one of the largest children’s hospitals in the country.

The surgeon, Dr. Eithan Haim, was indicted last May in U.S. District Court in Houston on four counts of obtaining, under false pretenses, personal medical information from the online system at Texas Children’s Hospital. He requested access to the hospital’s record database in 2023, two years after he last worked there, claiming that he needed the information to provide “adult care services.”

The doctor took the health care information of children who had received transition-related services and disclosed that information to a conservative activist, Christopher Rufo. Mr. Rufo then published an article saying the hospital was continuing to provide transgender care to minors after it had announced an end to the practice.

Dr. Haim, 34, who has acknowledged disclosing the records, pleaded not guilty because he did not think he had done anything wrong, he said in a telephone interview on Saturday from his suburban Dallas home. He called himself a whistle-blower and said he had redacted the patients’ records to hide any identifiable information. …”

Eliminating spending on “Transgenderism” was one of the justifications given by OMB for its spending/grants/loan disbursement freeze last night.

The Trump admin press release on transgender military members is just shameful:

“Consistent with the military mission and longstanding DoD policy, expressing a false “gender identity” divergent from an individual’s sex cannot satisfy the rigorous standards necessary for military service. Beyond the hormonal and surgical medical interventions involved, adoption of a gender identity inconsistent with an individual’s sex conflicts with a soldier’s commitment to an honorable, truthful, and disciplined lifestyle, even in one’s personal life. A man’s assertion that he is a woman, and his requirement that others honor this falsehood, is not consistent with the humility and selflessness required of a service member.”

It’s not enough to simply refuse to provide gender-affirming care. No, we have to call every transgender person a lying, dishonorable sack of shit too. Don’t hold your breath waiting for @HeelYeah2012 and other self-proclaimed “moderates” who claimed they just wanted trans people left alone as long as they stay out of women’s sports to criticize this.

Whoever wrote that about people who have served their nation is absolutley fucking gross. It's so inexcusable on any level.

I never said it’s all about women’s sports for me. For me the core issue with the transgender stuff is expecting the general public to play along with it.

I don’t care what gender people identify as, but don’t force society play along.

By “play along” do you mean using she/her when referring to a transfemale? Is that something you object to?

So you agree with Trump that every single transgender person is a liar who lacks integrity and humility? And if in the military, should be summarily expelled?

Worrying about the pronouns, letting them play sports against whichever gender they choose, letting them use whichever bathroom they choose, etc. All of these things require society to play along with the charade and quickly move the conversation way beyond “hey just let these people live their inner truth!”

No, I wouldn’t say that every transgender person is a liar who lacks integrity and humility. I do not think the US military should be required to have transgender people defending our country if they don’t want to. Speaking generally, I do think transgender individuals would likely be lower performing soldiers than cisgender people who don’t suffer from gender dysphoria. But there’s also an expected difference in generic military performance when comparing cisgender males to cisgender females. Plenty of cisgender females kick ass in the military obviously. There are exceptions to every rule. The boxer who caused all the controversy in the Olympics could probably kick some ass in a military/combat setting, clearly.

Do you know any transgender people?

If so, when you speak with them do you use their preferred pronouns?

The boxer isn’t transgender. It was your side trying to change her gender. She was assigned female at birth.

I do not know any, other than a sibling of one of my wife’s friends that I have only met once.

If I did, I would likely use their preferred pronouns out of respect to them.

Of all the things I listed - pronouns, sports, bathrooms - pronouns is the one that is the easiest to play along with even if it’s a little silly because there is really no harm or danger to it.

With all of this, I’m way more worried about what kind of silly world my daughters will be growing up in than I am about me needing to refer to someone by whatever pronoun they decide they want to go by at the time.
