The Trump admin press release on transgender military members is just shameful:

“Consistent with the military mission and longstanding DoD policy, expressing a false “gender identity” divergent from an individual’s sex cannot satisfy the rigorous standards necessary for military service. Beyond the hormonal and surgical medical interventions involved, adoption of a gender identity inconsistent with an individual’s sex conflicts with a soldier’s commitment to an honorable, truthful, and disciplined lifestyle, even in one’s personal life. A man’s assertion that he is a woman, and his requirement that others honor this falsehood, is not consistent with the humility and selflessness required of a service member.”

It’s not enough to simply refuse to provide gender-affirming care. No, we have to call every transgender person a lying, dishonorable sack of shit too. Don’t hold your breath waiting for @HeelYeah2012 and other self-proclaimed “moderates” who claimed they just wanted trans people left alone as long as they stay out of women’s sports to criticize this.
Whoever wrote that about people who have served their nation is absolutley fucking gross. It's so inexcusable on any level.

I never said it’s all about women’s sports for me. For me the core issue with the transgender stuff is expecting the general public to play along with it.

I don’t care what gender people identify as, but don’t force society play along.

By “play along” do you mean using she/her when referring to a transfemale? Is that something you object to?

So you agree with Trump that every single transgender person is a liar who lacks integrity and humility? And if in the military, should be summarily expelled?

Worrying about the pronouns, letting them play sports against whichever gender they choose, letting them use whichever bathroom they choose, etc. All of these things require society to play along with the charade and quickly move the conversation way beyond “hey just let these people live their inner truth!”

No, I wouldn’t say that every transgender person is a liar who lacks integrity and humility. I do not think the US military should be required to have transgender people defending our country if they don’t want to. Speaking generally, I do think transgender individuals would likely be lower performing soldiers than cisgender people who don’t suffer from gender dysphoria. But there’s also an expected difference in generic military performance when comparing cisgender males to cisgender females. Plenty of cisgender females kick ass in the military obviously. There are exceptions to every rule. The boxer who caused all the controversy in the Olympics could probably kick some ass in a military/combat setting, clearly.

Do you know any transgender people?

If so, when you speak with them do you use their preferred pronouns?

The boxer isn’t transgender. It was your side trying to change her gender. She was assigned female at birth.

I do not know any, other than a sibling of one of my wife’s friends that I have only met once.

If I did, I would likely use their preferred pronouns out of respect to them.

Of all the things I listed - pronouns, sports, bathrooms - pronouns is the one that is the easiest to play along with even if it’s a little silly because there is really no harm or danger to it.

With all of this, I’m way more worried about what kind of silly world my daughters will be growing up in than I am about me needing to refer to someone by whatever pronoun they decide they want to go by at the time.

Cause when I think Pete Hegseth, humility and selflessness come to mind.

Well, so much for the argument that Trump wasn't really serious about enacting Project 2025 or that they wouldn't try to carry out their most drastic proposals. We're only a little over a week in and apparently it's full steam ahead on the ram everything through come hell or high water train. Can't wait to see what they decide to do with Social Security and Medicare, because no matter how much they deny it you know they're planning on doing something to cut it or alter it to their benefit in some way.

Invalidating passports and passport applications based on a characteristic of a person seems punitive and quite serious, though the cancellation of active passports is worse.
Maybe a little punitive. If you want to stick to the science of sex as far as filling out government docs, I would have started that policy going forward, not retroactively, but the comparison to Nazi Germany is just silly.

Good God you’re a callous asshole
this is why your side lost and you are in the minority and the rest of us are stuck with a goddamn lying conman again as leader of the free world with the house, senate and supreme court. maybe look in the mirror, assclown.

“… The most recent order set as official policy that the federal government not “fund, sponsor, promote, assist, or support the so-called ‘transition’ of a child from one sex to another.”

It directed the Department of Health and Human Services to review the terms of insurance coverage under Medicare, Medicaid and the Affordable Care Act to end some gender-affirming care.

It also gave the department 90 days to release a new set of best practices, meant to revise guidance from the World Professional Association for Transgender Health, which was written to set standards for transgender medical care, and which the order called “junk science.”

It tasked agencies providing federal research or education grants to medical institutions, including medical schools and hospitals, with ensuring that those institutions were not carrying out any gender-related procedures.

And it directed the Federal Employees Health Benefits and Postal Service Health Benefits programs to exclude similar types of coverage starting in 2026.

Civil rights groups have issued increasingly dire statements criticizing the administration for a stance they say widely demonizes and marginalizes transgender people.

“Access to gender-affirming care enables trans youth to live authentically and is often life-saving,” Fatima Goss Graves, the president of the National Women’s Law Center, said in a statement.

“The Trump administration’s continued assault on the rights and dignity of trans people is deplorable.” …”
