Yes, Fran was bad enough at barely a hurricane. The wind, rain and tornado threat with this is going to be extreme.

Doubling wind speed roughly quadruples its destructive force, so it's worse than than, by two times. I was there for Fran, and to see worse than that is scary stuff.

Yes this can be impactful for the election

A decent FEMA and NHS performance and it's a HUGE Harris talking point. Hey all of the help and forecasting? Trump wants to ELIMINATE ALL OF IT
It baffles me Trump and Vance and 2025 want to get rid of all of these protections

Agreed. How both parties’ leaders respond to this will decide the election.

Cantore just said doubling the wind speed does not double the threat. He says 120-140mph winds cause 20X the threat and lead to "catastrophic structural damage, uprooting large trees, and ripping off roofs."

Now the Weather Channel is known for hyperbole and building the excitement and terror. Not to diminish his overall point.

Earlier, they had a guy in a flooded street with futuristic space goggles for wind rain I suppose. He also wore a 3rd base coaches helmet under a weather hoodie in thigh deep water. Meanwhile, some teenagers passed behind him in nothing but shorts and doing belly flops in the water.

Crazy living in Wilmington and hearing about all that’s going on even now in the mountains.

New Hanover County Schools canceled tomorrow earlier this afternoon to be safe. All we’ve had so far was a light sprinkling that lasted about two minutes right at 6:00.

Stay safe, everyone.
