They are important with Trump in the White House because Trump only rewards sycophants.
This is why there were no major conflicts during his term. People like Putin accomplished more in 4 years than two decades of combat could and all he had to do was fluff his ego a bit. He’s so easily manipulated by flattery, he’d probably fellate a mule on the WH lawn if it would lead to widespread fawning over his incredible skills in the bedroom. Hell, he simulated oral sex on a microphone just for laughs from a bunch of people he couldn’t personally stand to be around IRL.

Some interesting speculation that traditionial "get out the vote" door knocking just doesn't work anymore I think the "get out the vote " was really good-it just didn't work So now what????
Big big facts. Everything is digital. Stop knocking on doors. Reach people more broadly.

IMO in 2028, there will be different presidential campaigns. Less in person rallies and more virtual events. Why make people go wait in line when you can reach them in their living rooms?

There’s a piece in NYT this morning that addresses this (and many other factors). Basically, Trump’s team looked at the costs and being low on funds initially, decided that $100 or more per voter interaction wasn’t workable for them. It does seem that Trump was able to do more with social media to reach voters. Will Dems (or Republicans post-Trump) be able to adapt to the new environment?

I really wonder how effective Elon Musk's presence in the campaign was.
Well, he allowed, promoted, and personally participated in the spread of disinformation on X. I don't know how much of that directly affected the election, but it helped to fire up the base to get out and vote.

Bernie Sanders blasts Harris and Dems for not fighting for the working class and abandoning them once again. He is such a clueless insufferable schmuck.

Biden and Harris had major messaging issues and a failed campaign strategy.

What Bernie means is they didn't try his fantasy land desire for destructive far left socialism. They would have lost by more than 40 Million votes with that utopian make believe dream BS.

He's as deranged as MTG.

I think most of Bernies ideas are winning ideas when they are talked about without a party tied to them, you just have to message them properly.

Missouri, a very red state voted to raise the minimum wage gradually from $13.75 to $15 an hour and require paid sick leave. Those are Bernies ideas.

Tell people you are going to lower their cost of living, and raise their income, don't tell them how you pay for it. (You raise taxes on billionaires but you don't have to say this out loud, just say you'll have more money with these).

Unhinged post.

Well I'm saying our projected weakness emboldened putin, as it did under obama. Obviously that is just my opinion and not expecting you to agree. Along those lines, one of my biggest fears in a harris win was china invading taiwan during her term. Again, not expecting you to agree but you at least know where I'm coming from.

Agree with you on warmongering
A significant part of "projected weakness" is that foreign bad actors (Putin, Xi, Kim, etc) know that if a President of the Democratic party commits American troops, then Republicans and right-wing media will rally half of the country against it, simply because the President is a Democrat. Putin doesn't even need his sophisticated intelligence services to know that. THAT is what emboldens foreign adversaries.

Unhinged post.
You are a self proclaimed Communist in America. You are in the 1% most far left extreme. So yeah, unhinged to you.

Put another way, a candidate with your views would be defeated in America 98% to 2%. And 0% is within the margin of error.

Unhinged.

When did he say that? Neither russia or china are in a good place economically. Putting pressure on their economies is the best deterrent. Trump would be under a lot of pressure to act if china invaded so i'm confident he wants to avoid that if at all possible.
Former President Donald Trump on Saturday said he would encourage Russia to do “whatever the hell they want” to any NATO member country that doesn’t meet spending guidelines on defense in a stunning admission he would not abide by the collective-defense clause at the heart of the alliance if reelected.

“NATO was busted until I came along,” Trump said at a rally in Conway, South Carolina. “I said, ‘Everybody’s gonna pay.’ They said, ‘Well, if we don’t pay, are you still going to protect us?’ I said, ‘Absolutely not.’ They couldn’t believe the answer.”

Trump said “one of the presidents of a big country” at one point asked him whether the US would still defend the country if they were invaded by Russia even if they “don’t pay.”

“No, I would not protect you,” Trump recalled telling that president. “In fact, I would encourage them to do whatever the hell they want. You got to pay. You got to pay your bills.”

I don't know about that. If Trump literally said these exact views he'd still get 50%.

I think that cuts both ways..
A great many Boomers doing estate planning are concerned about what will happen when the current generous estate tax exemption expires in 2025 and voted accordingly. One client mentioned that as his main reason for voting for Trump. They'd rather leave it to their heirs than to the Treasury.
What percentage of trump voters have estates that would be impacted?

I agree with you that Dems are better for the economy across all economic levels of Americans.

I think Dems have got to do a better job discussing economic issues. Dems tend to get a bit caught up in showing how the economy is better using facts and figures and economic data...and most voters essentially equate "the economy" with their personal budget. Dems have got to find an economic populist message that works with those who aren't white collar professionals in reasonably high paying jobs. It's going to take hard work because Dems have to thread a needle of being realistic with what can be accomplished while also setting a vision that is beyond the strict reality of where we currently reside.

I think motifs of economic mobility, ensuring an opportunity of a "good life" for all, fighting corporate greed, and similar ideas will be the foundation of that message. But it will not be easy to really determine and will take a lot of effrort.
Didn't Harris repeatedly promote her "Opportunity Economy" and promise to go after companies engaging in price gouging? trump countered with tariffs and tax cuts for the rich?

We all know Elon is going to be the R nominee in 2028, right? He will be next to carry the torch, and unless there are some landmark changes in the D party's strategy, he'll win by a larger margin that Trump just did.

Rupert Murdoch has won. His long-game plan actually worked. And here we are.
