I don't get it. Harris had all the momentum, the energy, the crowds. How the hell could she still lose? This country doesn't make any sense. I don't understand how she got less votes when you would think she would get Biden's votes, you had Pubs saying they would vote for her, and you would think new voters would be in her favor, especially young women. None of this crap makes sense.
Price of eggs. But seriously, many folks are struggling to get by right now. It clouds their judgement and causes them to take a shot in the dark. They feel that they will get what they got with Biden if Kamala gets elected. When all you hear about is how so many folks are struggling to make ends meet and are unhappy with “their economy” it’s not surprising they way it’s going. It fucking sucks, but it’s not surprising.

It’s an extremely close election that will be decided on the margins regardless. I’m not going to sit here and give up everything I believe in because we elect Trump again.

Is that the difference between leftists and liberals? We’re going to find out.

Democrats are going to have to confront some issues within the party, because if Trump wins again it’s not just because of racism or sexism or some intractable issue.
No, it's racism and misogyny. Jen O'Malley also allowed a loss of momentum and engagement during the hurricanes which Trump spread disinformation all over the US.

Biden should have stepped down earlier. They had internals in early 2024.

And Garland is a milquetoast.

I really hope a lot of what y’all are saying is emotional. Win or lose, we can’t give up on the country.
You're too young to understand what it feels like to absolutely know that the nation is lost for the rest of your natural life. There is currently no way that SCOTUS will ever change over in my lifetime. It's locked it that solidly for the next 3 decades. That alone is a very valid reason to give up on the country.

Trump is a shot in the head.

Shoulda gone on Rogan.

Or, shoulda had a primary.

Democratic Party gonna have a lot of soul searching to do after this one.
Not really. Going on Rogan wouldn't made a difference, and she ran a good campaign. Too many people just won't vote for a woman and didn't believe that Trump will really do what he and his minions have said they will do. And if you want to argue, defend Trump's campaign over the last three weeks. Lies upon lies upon lies, and people lapped it up.

Yep, it’s at its core and the core of its supporters believe those things. Trump doesn’t win just with his core support, which is what Harris was banking on. He has expanded his vote totals. Hispanic people aren’t switching to Trump by double digits suddenly because they’ve joined the “MAGA Movement.”
Maybe they feel the best thing to do is to join the whites to have a better shot. That's what Mark Robinson did, too.

It seems 45-48% have now knowingly voted (2-3 times) for someone who doesn’t believe in democracy or the constitution and they’ve been joined by another 5-6% who are too stupid to even realize that. They’re the ones who have given up on the country. I’m merely giving up on them.

Or maybe this was an economic referendum election and Democrats failed to get a winning economic message across?

Just a thought. Y’all are going to continue to believe whatever.
I guess people care more about money than living in a fascist country. That isn't any better.

Get mad but the democrats can screw up a two car funeral. Running a black woman against Trump when Hillary couldn't beat him was always going to lose. Just like 2016 we talked ourselves into victory. It is what it is but insanity is doing the same thing and expecting different results
Yes, much better to divide the party coalition via an open primary a couple months before the general election. Tons of blacks and/or conservative Hispanics would’ve swooned for the gay guy or the slick commie from California. Or maybe the progressive/pro-Palestine wing would’ve really come around to Shapiro.

Exactly.

Don’t you think I should feel worse about that than people older than me? I have to deal with this shit for a long time. That’s why I’m not going to give up and sit here saying dumb ass stuff like hoping that Latinos are deported.
I'm not going to try to tell you how to feel about it. I'm giving you my perspective. I'm 46 years old and there is ZERO chance that this nation reflects any of my values for the remainder of my lifetime because SCOTUS will be so baked-in. That tells me that I may as well check out. I don't have children. I don't have a vested interest in what happens after I'm gone. I've been too vested for too long. When you've been around this nonsense as long as some of us, we will see what sort of enthusiasm you still have.

I'm too tired to care. I'm not angry. I'm not even disappointed. I'm embarrassed for us as a nation and I'm checked out of whatever comes next.
