In re Cost of College Education: When I was in college, 50 years ago, I got by with VA Educational Benefits, working 25 to 30 hours a week, working full time during the summer, and having a sparse social life. I graduated with zero educational loans because I never took any out. The cost of college was that cheap back when I attended.
But over time, the right-ward tilt of the NC-GA has allowed college tuition to creep up to the point where it is unaffordable without: wealthy parents, a full scholarship, or taking out ruinious loans. That is just a flat-out betrayal by my generation of the students that followed us. Side-note: my sparce social life in college had way more to do with my appearance and personality than any virtuous attempts on my part to minimize costs.
