Post how much you paid for eggs today

That's odd. A larger size box (560g vs 510g for US version) is $7.99 here. That's $5.49 in US dollars. And that's not the Costco price, which I am sure is lower.

Publix is ripping you off.

not me they didn't. I wasn't about to spend that much.

You should look up the requirements to be cage free.

My cousin is a Chicken scientist for one of the major chicken producers. It's interesting the stuff he tells me. According to him, most of these things are simply marketing.
everything in this country is marketing. the pharmaceutical ones crack me up the most. what a dumbed down society we have become

“Free range” just means “outdoor access” or “access to the outdoors”. That can mean the chicken can stick its head through a hole into the great outdoors. Or, it has 2 square feet of a concrete slab.

“Cage-free” just means they aren’t in cages. It doesn’t mean the chickens are roaming in a pasture. There might be thousands in a barn with no access to outside.

“Pasture-raised” - good luck with that meaning the chickens are running around a pasture.

I get my eggs from a woman in Eli Whitney. She raises hogs and chickens. Her animals have huge areas to roam and graze. The eggs and pork are great! And, expensive compared to a lot of grocery store items. The eggs are only $7/dozen.

Exactly. So much marketing and illusion to something more than is really happening.

Just crush my good intentions, then . 😂

I’ve heard that, but I’ve been doing it so long. It’s just what I reach for. I will say there are a couple of brands of free range eggs that I buy when they’re on sale. I actually think those taste better, so I’m hoping their packaging isn’t a complete lie. But of course it’s been weeks since anything has actually gone on sale.

Sorry man.

Ultimately if you feel good about it, then it's worth it.

We used to have a neighbor that had chickens. The eggs they would give us were we better.

So, seeing scattered claims of COVID style grocery runs … anyone actually seeing that in practice? Seems like an unnecessary and somewhat irrational response at this juncture but heaven knows I don’t want to get stuck having to buy a box of industrial toilet paper again …

Once a month, I'll order online from Costco and have it delivered. A couple of weeks ago, I was going to add eggs to my order, and none were available. Of any size or brand. It was bizarre.

No worries, Father Musk tells us that there will be 'temporary' pain with Trump's 'adjustment' of the economy, although 'temporary' might mean a decade or more. Certainly nothing worse than Mao's Cultural Revolution.
