That won’t happen and if it did it wouldn’t be productive. Currently talking to each other means liberals listening to conservatives and agreeing. Conservatives are not asked to consider liberal points of view.

Maybe things change with time but right now I’m not seeing any desire to fight or put things back together. People are tired. There is a lot of fear out there but exhaustion is everywhere. As a result they are just done with conservatives.
The point that many on here keep forgetting is that 70% of this country felt it was on the wrong track and trump didn't win with just the conservative vote. He pulled a big number of the latino vote and the biggest number of the black vote (maybe in decades). Liberals are afraid and don't want to talk but there are more centrist democrats that don't feel that way because they are represented in that 70% number as well.

It’s not the democrats that are looking for social wacko stuff. The democrats basic position is that “all are created equal and deserve equal treatment.” When one group looks like they’re at the doorstep of normalcy, the republicans look for the next group that they can bully. And, in the process, paint the democrats as supporting wacko stuff.
Unless you are talking about female sports and then all don't deserve equal treatment. Biological females deserve unfair treatment.

Yeah, anyone trying to explain away this loss because of Hispanic men being racist or sexist is just in pure cope mode.

The truth has been staring Democrats in the face since at least 2014. The answer to winning back working class whites is the same answer to why Harris lost support from working class Black and Hispanic men.
Black support reduced by 1 point. Turnout was down however

Yeah, I've read that Trump got almost exactly the same share of the black vote that he got in 2020, although as you said black voter turnout was down. So all these stories of black voters switching to Trump turned out to be false. The real issue was the huge shift of Hispanic males to the Republicans, which definitely hurt.

He increased his number by 1% nationally if I’m understanding correctly. The numbers were more significant in NC.

Maybe, but the national number is still pretty telling after all the breathless news media stories about how black men were moving in large numbers towards Trump. The real problem is the defection of Hispanic men to Republicans. That needs to be resolved by 2026 if the Democrats hope to do well in the midterms.

Probably has more to do with Harris having over 12 million less votes than Biden.

While trump was within a million of his total from 2020.

Agree. I don’t think we should kid to ourselves about Black men though. If there is drift or apathy, it needs to be addressed now rather than later. We can’t win without Hispanics. If Black men start to drift towards Republicans as well, the road back to any kind of power with be even harder.

Luckily, I think the policies that Democrats should pursue would be good for Black and Hispanic working men.

Gen Z males are a problem as well. They've been compromised and radicalized by online bro culture. I saw tonight that a new trend among this demo is responding to girls'/women's TikToks with "your body, my choice" and similar comments. Really disgusting stuff.

Unfortunately, it seems as if the more equality and career and personal success women have, the more threatened and embittered and resentful some men become. When women were still mostly limited to being housewives and raising kids at home, mediocre (or worse) men no doubt found it easier to find a wife, but now that women have more freedom and options guys like them blame their failures in life on successful career women. And it's just getting worse, as the share of college students who are women increases and more men get left behind. And yeah, it's ugly out there - I've read that the "your body, my choice" phrase has been popular across social media since the election. We're just living in a dark, dark time.

I work with a good amount of people in their early-mid 20’s. I think the typical “bros” are mainly pushing back against the more progressive themes in tv/movies/video games now. It’s another case of wanting to own the libs and “alphabet people”. They definitely get pulled to the alpha manosphere influencers

Thats how the right wing online media pipeline works. Y’all remember Gamer Gate?

The anxieties of young men are being cynically exploited by these odious right wing forces.

We must offer a legitimate alternative to their grievance.

Is that 70% broken into who thinks is taking the country the wrong way? That would be meaningful. This could mean that more want the country to move to the left that the right. Not likely with the vote but it makes that single number useless.

I'm sure this has no relationship to the recent election outcome. Nothing to see here. An outlier. I'm just asking questions. Figurative cutton [sic] and plantations, not literal cutton [sic] and plantations.

About 20% of Americans just voted for Trump (~70 mill out of 360 mill). He got about 28% of the voter eligible population (265 mill).

Not wanting that sort of thing pushed down your throat versus trying to “own the libs” are two different things.

I have an extended family member that lives in a city in Ohio ; college educated , 30 yr old single white male, grew up comfortable. I don't know what he "makes" but likely makes 60-70 a yr. He voted on economic anxiety-for orangeturd-as did his Rogan bro buddies
I guess he thinks he should be able to buy a three bedroom house ? I really don't know ,He has played a lot of sports-I don't think he is racist . He has strong Mom-I don't think he is afraid of a woman president. 100% of his news comes from his phone-that much I know
It baffles me

Can one of the conservative explain what libs are pushing down their throats? Seems to me what libs are pushing is that individuals are free to live according to their individual beliefs. From my POV, and you have to understand that I'm an old redneck retired carpenter with a high school education, It's the the conservatives who want to force people to certain moral behaviors that do no harm to them but hurt their feelings.

Didn't Jesus say, "Judge not that you not be judged."?

By virtue of the fact that Trump is going to be the face of the Republican Party for well over a decade, they clearly have their own issues.

However, if Democrats think that they can sit on their perceived throne and label the serfs as deplorables, garbage, racist, misogynist and bigots, and that is going to get their party back on track, I think they are very much mistaken.
