It was close. Democrats have been steadily losing black men over the last few presidential elections but it's not like it was a sea change like Latino men. Harris did slightly reverse the trend of losing black women.

I think in some states the trend of losing black men was more pronounced like Wisconsin and maybe North Carolina.
Trump won 24% of black men vs Harris compared to only 12% vs Biden.

Which is really a bad thing.

We need to talk and understand each other and where this country is.
That won’t happen and if it did it wouldn’t be productive. Currently talking to each other means liberals listening to conservatives and agreeing. Conservatives are not asked to consider liberal points of view.

Maybe things change with time but right now I’m not seeing any desire to fight or put things back together. People are tired. There is a lot of fear out there but exhaustion is everywhere. As a result they are just done with conservatives.

The latter already happened. The former will happen.
Yep. When conservatives lost in 2020 we ended up with riots at the Capitol. What we'll get from liberals after this election is likely just giving up and separating themselves from politics and ignoring Trump as much as possible. I already have some liberal friends who have just deleted their facebook or other social media accounts and will just disengage from politics. What I'm seeing from liberals today (including myself) isn't the shock we had after 2016, but just exhaustion and being completely fed up and disgusted with our politics and the country at large. I do think many liberals have reached their breaking point with politics, and they're going to disengage, at least for a long while.

I dont even think most Dems care one bit about social "wacko" stuff whatever that means. But Republicans will hammer it anyways.
I don't see it as whaco stuff. When Georgia passes a law that nullifies my gay daughter's marriage, I'll remind everyone of not caring about the "social whaco stuff".

For me this was big, how did a racist get across to black and Latino men? How did a misoginist get women's votes?

His daily conversation hammered how he is against everyone that isn't exactly like him, how does this resonate beyond the white racist, homophobes, and incels?

Doubled the black and latino vote and women in NC helped win him the election.

All this means is black people and women in NC, likely your neighbors, coworkers, people you see at the grocery store, helped elect donald trump. Are they racist and misogynistic?
Apparently yes.

Very simple answer. Exit polling tells us exactly what happened. The Economy (inflation) was listed as the biggest issue at number one by a VERY wide margin. We have known inflation was the biggest issue from the beginning.

Of those listing the economy #1, over 2/3 responded the Economy is weak or very bad. Less than a third answered good or very good.

Immigration listed as most important by 13%. Abortion got 11%. Harris and Dems' primary focus and expected path to victory was on abortion (listed by only 11%). Result, a Trump rout.

Harris and her election team royally screwed up and handed it to an absolutely awful candidate and option.

There was a months long thread on here praising the economy and diminishing the impact of inflation. I posted on it just a few times, but I was scratching my head how much the concern and struggles of average voters was being dismissed.

And that is the bottom line.

Trump has officially now won more than one demographic, "uneducated white males." I assume he now has won "uneducated white females." He also won the "Latino" demographic. Perhaps others.

Complete failure by Dem ticket.

Because a lot of Latinos are racist. Why do you think Trump started shifting the skin color of the invaders? They were supposedly coming from Mexico, but then Venezuela. And then Congo. And Haiti. And of course they picked on the Haitians in Springfield.

The key to success with black men, of course, was the misogyny. Probably Latino voters as well. This has long been a paradox of democracy. How can you create a virtuous polity out of unvirtuous people?

I'm not describing what you are here. True, one sided conversations are not going to help, but if the dems don't work to understand the disconnect with voters then how do they expect to do any better in the future? Should they just hope trump ducks up so bad that voters come back?

Agree with the second paragraph, I'm exhausted, this has been a week from hell for me.

One big step that the conservatives have to take and probably first is to accept that the right wing media deserves to be challenged .I'm not saying that they need to put full faith in Mother Jones but they need to at least look at something like the Economist with an open mind. From my POV, they have their own reality. We have to agree on some sort of standard of evidence before we can talk about whys and wherefores or we are never going to get anywhere.

Don’t hold your breath, brother.
