Rashad McCants

Why would there be no Marvin, Felton, or May? None if them came to Chapel Hill because of McCants. and I’m pretty sure Roy would would have landed Marvin. Hell, when Marvin committed (in July 2003), he had no idea whether McCants, Felton, or May would still be in college after the 2004 season. There was a strong likelihood they would not be. And you say no one wants to play for a loser, but Felton, May, and McCants decided to come to Chapel Hill despite what was happening in 2002.
Without McCants then Doherty doesn’t get fired.

Wow harold is really embarrassing himself on this thread.

Obviously, Rashad was key to that title and a resurgence in the program.

Also obviously, he was not THE key to the future of UNC basketball from 2005 onward. That's just mind-boggling to suggest.

you guys loves players when they bring you championships but hate them when they are “mentally ill” and don’t spout the company line.
This is a seriously silly take. How many times should UNC try to build a bridge to the guy while he throws gasoline in their collective faces and lights the match. You have no idea how many times people tried to help Rashad in 100 different ways from within Carolina. He doesn't want to be helped and it isn't all mental illness. Someone can be simultaneously mentally ill AND a horrible narcissist at the same time.

There were a number of players and their parents who took issue with Doherty and went above his head to voice their displeasure. Scott May was a big part of that, but he was not alone. Doherty was toast after 2003 regardless of McCants.

How are you privy to all these different ways?

What type of help has been offered?

He wasn’t THE key to UNC’s basketball resurgence the days that Felton and May committed to the Heels. He certainly was less integral the day Roy Williams said he was coming home.

A talented offensive player.

During one of Rashad’s outspoken rants, Bubba Cunningham said McCants should call him directly. In his comments to media, Bubba said UNC has programs to help former athletes return to school; and, that he’d happily help McCants.

Best player on the team.

Are you answering for someone else?

Those aren’t the 100 different ways.
