Roll Call: Who is voting early? Who is waiting til Nov. 5 (and why?)

How do you stand to live there? If I was surrounded by MAGA, I don't think I could last even a year.
Yeah, I get that. In my neighborhood, we have a handful of non-MAGA households / people but the majority are die-hard Republicans and you'll never tell them any different. I live in a semi-private golf club community and a lot of the folks here have been here for many many years. I get a lot of practice in talking to them about politics by the interactions I've had with my own family members. I suppose I'm doing what I can to win them over back to sanity when there is an opportunity, because I do like my house and my neighborhood. I don't plan to retire here, but I will probably be here until then.

My wife and I voted yesterday. We waited 55 minutes to get in the door. When leaving I checked the line, and it was longer than when we arrived.

I haven’t seen a post about the Walz rally in Winston-Salem Thursday, but it was a good one. We arrived at 3:30 and were on our feet until 8:30. The Carver HS gym was packed, with roll out bleachers on one side, temporary bleachers on the end of the court behind the stage, and the rest of the gym standing room only.
The Carver marching band was rocking, the rapper Common did a hell of a good original performance, and when he finally arrived from Durham, Walz was cooking. We agreed that he is even better in person.

We talked to two public school teachers (husband and wife) for a long time. They had been to the Harris rally at the Greensboro Coliseum and had to sit in nose bleed seats - said that the coliseum was packed. I really, really hope that all this energy translates to a record turnout at the polls.

Fuckers are probably too stupid to even know they haven't been running against Biden for three months now.

BIDEN DERANGEMENT SYNDROME!!!!!
It is really something. I had a conversation with one of my neighbors - who is otherwise quite an affable elderly man - and he said he's not voting for Harris because 1) Walz exaggerated/lied about his military service, and 2) he doesn't like Harris' laugh. I brought up President Bone Spurs' evasion of Vietnam and that Trump never laughs but....something something different standards for the same thing and all.

Again, this is deep red Davidson county and we just can't have the negress in the White House. 🙄

As I had hoped, we (NC) broke a record for first day, early voting… and kicked Georgia’s arse by around 40,000 votes.

And word on the street is that the majority of those votes cast were by Dems… with Indy voting close behind pub votes.

I’m an optimist here and think at least half or more of those Indy votes are also for Harris, Stein, Jackson, Green.

Giving Dems a nice head start

When there is turnout, democrats win, so record breaking voting certainly bodes well for them.

The double standard is so damn frustrating. If you say you’re not voting for someone for Reason X, then don’t vote for someone else for whom the exact same applies.

Of course we know it’s really just an excuse to allow themselves to vote for someone they know they shouldn’t vote for.

I voted on Thursday. Lots of MAGA in the building. I was walking behind this old timer on the way out and I heard him say, "I was gonna wear my Trump hat too, but I didn't want to start something and have to slap somebody." He was saying that because a couple other old timers were proudly rocking their Trump hats while voting. I live in WNC so this didn't come as a surprise to me. For what it's worth there are way less Trump yard signs this time around and pretty much no flags. I am very pessimistic about how this is all going to play out. I hope Harris wins, but if I was forced to bet money on it I'd put it on that fucking traitor to win. These next couple weeks are going to seem like an eternity. Fuck Trump.

Maybe his is the FSU guy who promised to eat dog shit
I was just being coy... "the word on the street" was my lame way of saying that I looked at the data as it now stands. And that shows the majority of those votes cast in NC were by Dems… with Indy voting close behind pub votes.

Also, the "my guy" who "is an optimist" is me... Just me being lame again.
The pissin on the cornflakes jab was just me being an arseling.

Thing about voting early, especially the first week, is the long lines due to fewer polling stations available per county. Your county may not have but one, two, maybe 3 or 4 stations open. Loads of people travel to one of those and line up.
On Nov. 5, all the stations are open and one must go to your assigned precinct, which may not be that crowded, especially at 6:30 or 7pm.

I think polls close in NC at 7:30, correct?

My family all voted on Saturday. All 5 of us. It was my youngest daughter's first election that she could vote in.

Wife and I did some poll protection (Democracy NC) on Thursday in Winston-Salem. Worked from noon to 4pm and the polling place had a 45 minute to one hour wait the entire time. We, in turn, voted Friday at another site with no waiting. Two straight D ballots from this family...with the 16 year old watching.
