Trump on Ukraine: ‘They Gave Putin a Reason to Go in and Bomb the Hell Out of Them Last Night’

Kyiv Post’s senior Washington correspondent shares the latest comments on Ukraine from US President Donald Trump

“… Journalists on board Air Force One asked Trump whether Ukraine’s drone strikes deep inside Russia changed his view of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s cards, Kyiv Post’s Washington correspondent reports.

Trump: “Well they gave Putin a reason to go in and bomb the hell out of them last night. That’s the thing I didn’t like about it.”

“When I saw it, I said, ‘Here we go, now it’s going to be a strike.”

… Trump was evidently referring to the Russian strikes that have followed “Spiderweb,” including mass attacks largely striking civilian targets in Friday and Saturdayattacks.

Reporter: “Are you worried that Russia-Ukraine could spiral into a nuclear conflict?”

Trump: “I don’t… I hope not. I hope not.”…”

Trump doesn’t seem to distinguish between attacks on military targets and attacks on civilian targets.

So Trump has gone from "HE would end the war within 24 of being elected President" to HE HOPES the war doesn't spiral into a nuclear conflict?
That's a stunning about face in his claims.

I’m sure it’s absolutely stunning to the maga and good Germans, who decry the dangers of the world under democrats, that their godhead isn’t ruling out nuclear war.

Mitch is physically struggling to clearly articulate but his questions, though slow, are sharp. Hegseth is like a sound box with half-a-dozen preprogrammed sound bites that he deploys regardless of the substance of the question. But if you don’t pay attention to the substance, Hegseth sounds stronger.

Putin's summer offensive seems to be lacking results. Haven't seen a collapse of the lines yet. Perhaps a bigger push is still coming.

If I were Ukraine, no way I would negotiate away a single inch of ground.
You know more about this than I do but it seems Ukraine's drone production capability has dramatically changed their leverage. War is literally being reinvented on the border between Russia and Ukraine right now.

I do keep up with the war, but unlikely I know any more then anyone else. I just think when there are regular comments that things are bad for Ukraine and that Ukraine is going to lose so they had better negotiate something, that there needs to be pushback. The front lines are holding pretty well and it just seems that Russia is unable to take advantage even if there is a breakthrough.

Saw where someone made a very good point that just over two years ago, Russia controlled a heck of a lot more ground and a major city yet Ukraine didn't give up. So why would they think about giving up now? Thought it was a good point.
