It is problematic to have Putin in the United States, and on top of that It is more than a bit tone deaf to have this meeting in Alaska as Russian media trolls have been agitating to take back Alaska …

I posted earlier ( tongue in cheek ) that Trump may allow Russia to annex Alaska as an incentive to get a peace settlement and be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. After reading these items, I'm considering the removal of my tongue from my cheek

Trump : Vlad, so good to see you my friend. You know I really really need you to end the war so I can win the Nobel Peace Prize. The Z man is not going to accept you annexing East Ukraine. You know that and I know that. What can we do to have a win win for you and me ?

Putin: I'm willing to compromise. I will withdraw from Ukraine if you give me Alaska. You know Alaska has always been rightfully ours.

Trump : Well, since it has always been yours in the first place...DEAL ! Done and done and I get my Nobel Prize. Suck on that Barrack Hussein Obama !

Vlad : Speaking of Obama , I thought it was a nice move to hide his portrait from White House visitors.

Trump: You know me Vlad.; I always have my eye on the important matters of the day.

Good strategy on Putin's part to leapfrog Ukrainian fortifications by getting the rest of Donetsk Oblast by negotiations. It took Ukraine many years to build those. If Putin gets that, then he can push further on a moment's notice before Ukraine can build more.

The remaining part of Donetsk, being underpopulated compared to other sectors of fighting gets fewer resources from Ukraine so it's no accident Putin's major push is there. So fortifications matter to even out the forces.

And should Russia make a breakthrough there, they would just face another line of fortifications.

Trump's policy is sickening for sure. Will be interesting to see the gymnastic moves Zelensky will have to pull off on this. He will reject whatever Trump gives away........but he can't come right out with a rejection or Trump will get his feelings hurt and do some real damage. Of course, that's what Putin is playing for.

For those who think CNN is leftist --

US officials are rushing to finalize details ahead of Friday’s summit between Presidents Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin in Alaska, with both logistical and geopolitical issues still unsettled four days ahead of the momentous sit-down.

As of Monday, no venue for the summit had been announced. Administration officials were still making their way to Alaska — selected for its centrality to Washington and Moscow — to scope out where, exactly, the US and Russian presidents would meet.
