"Isn’t the point of the anti-DEI crusade to hire the best?"

In a world where Disney is (was) "Woking" everything it got its hands on, a Colombian isn't the "white as snow" actress some people are looking for and is, therefore, not the "best" option. She may have been fine in a non-Woke, non-DEI world.

Thanks for confirming that just the possibility of a brown person being involved is enough to trigger racist maga dumfuks to comment on a movie they otherwise wouldn't be interested in.

Is this something that was brought up in the media? I don't recall ever hearing about this narrative.
odd that you missed that, I spent 2 minutes briefly scanning a couple of articles and its clearly one of the main issues for the woke police.

they cut the "one day my prince will come" song and they're upset about Zegler's comments to Variety in 2022 that "it's no longer 1973" and that Snow White is "not going to be dreaming about true love," but the "leader she knows she can be."

Your response highlights the disconnect between what is perceived as an issue and what is actually the issue with wokeness and DEI. The issue is the clear intent by Disney. I'm guessing we've all seen The Little Mermaid. The main character... THE mermaid who is the focus of the entire movie.... is a very white character with red hair. So, when Disney does a "remake" and selects a black female to play Ariel, the motivation is pretty clear. The issue isn't that a non-white person is cast in a movie. Non-white people are cast in movies... highly successful movies.... all the time. The issue is to (making up a word) wokeify the movie.

Ok, I do remember that.

Yep, more wokeness. Can't maintain the original story line in a remake because it's misogynistic.

My daughter watched Snow White and, honestly, she almost scrapped her college/life plans because that ONE song convinced her to be a stay-at-home mom. :ROFLMAO:

jfc.

every single disney princess since time immemorial has been lilywhite. making the little mermaid black was about representation - little black girls could see themselves in a disney princess for ONCE.

but too many fucking ignorant pieces of shit can't abide even teeny tiny amounts of progress.

How long before Zen cries about the wicked witch of the west not being evil in Wicked?

So the issue is a made up issue? Or the issue is racist pieces of shit don't like seeing brown people on screen? Again, thanks for confirming.

You people are such fucking clowns. Keep contorting yourself.

It's a good thing some of y'all never met Jesus.

Like I said, I googled her as Snow White and she looks like Snow White.
If people are using her ethnicity to not see the movie then that says a lot about them, and in a very bad way.

It’s pretty funny that on this anti-DEI tirade you have been on it seems you are fine with hiring a less talented performer as long as that person is very white.

Is a Polish person white enough? It is telling that you refer to a half Colombian, half polish person as “Colombian.”

Also, Google “Colombian women” and you will see a lot of women who look white. But this actress looking very much like the classic Snow White isn’t good enough, is it? Just not quite pure enough for the MAGA crowd, is she?

don't forget the fact that this snow white had a little agency and decided to make her life about more than just finding her prince. BIG problems for the misogyny brigade. way too woke.

i had no idea that this was a thing but now i've read all of the talking points. i am both incredulous and wildly amused that so many conservatives are so batshit insane and miserable that they spend massive amounts of time let alone any amount of time policing this stuff and being outraged by it.
Amen

Mermaids are white and everyone knows it!

LMAO

Not white enough, even though she is apparently being universally praised for the job she did. That doesn’t matter. This person is not white enough.

It's a remake. Ariel was a very white/red haired female in the original.

Again, nobody....nobody....is going to care if there is a NEW movie featuring a non-white actor/actress. Literally nobody.

In a world where Disney wasn't woking/DEI-ing everything, this may not matter. Disney has set the stage for criticism because THEY prioritized skin color.
