Yeah, it is ironic that the claim is Disney is making it political because from where I sit the ones who are making it political are the ones who care about it enough to complain.
Similar to trans "issues" during the Presidential campaign. Harris and her campaign barely mentioned it, but Trump and right wing media were obsessed because they know it resonates with their bigoted base.

I've heard of Jasmine Crockett, but apparently had no idea "who" she is.

Yes, Jasmine....the key to preventing this inexcusable mistake is more melanin, a vagina and boobs.

I still think that the taxpayer funded prisoner sex change ad was a home run (or at least an extra base hit) for the Trump campaign. It aired constantly and it was just so cringe that I can imagine how lots of folks were like WTF! Kamala is for they/them. Trump is for you. Damn effective messaging IMO.

Trump Orders Removal of ‘Divisive Race-Centered Ideology’ From Smithsonian

The executive order also sets the stage for the reinstatement of Confederate monuments

“… The order said that the forthcoming American Women’s History Museum wouldn’t “recognize men as women in any respect,” suggesting the mention of transgender women would be prohibited.

… The executive order cites the National Museum of African American History and Culture as one of the organizations promoting divisive, race-based ideology. The museum was established by an act of Congress and approved by President George W. Bush. It opened in 2016.

The directive singled out an exhibit called “The Shape of Power: Stories of Race and American Sculpture,” featured at the Smithsonian American Art Museum.

“The exhibit further claims that ‘sculpture has been a powerful tool in promoting scientific racism’ and promotes the view that race is not a biological reality but a social construct, stating ‘Race is a human invention,’” the executive order said.

The president’s order also calls for the interior secretary to determine whether any public monuments, memorials and statues within the agency’s jurisdiction were removed over the last five years to “perpetuate a false reconstruction of American history” or “any other improper partisan ideology.”

The secretary, Doug Burgum, will reinstate any such memorials determined to have been inappropriately removed, the order said. …”

Perpetuating "a false reconstruction of American history" is exactly why those statutes were built in the first place.

We have entered 1984 and the land of doublespeak.

Naval Academy Takes Steps to End Diversity Policies in Books and Admissions

The defense secretary’s office has ordered that some books be removed from circulation in its library, and the academy has ended the use of affirmative action in admissions.

“… Thus far, the review of Nimitz Library’s holdings has identified 900 books that may run afoul of the defense secretary’s verbal order.

According to a second defense official, they include “The Autobiography of Martin Luther King Jr.,” “Einstein on Race and Racism,” and a biography on Jackie Robinson. …”

More malicious compliance?
The article makes it pretty clear that there is a lot of uncertainty that needs to be cleared up. I would hope books that simply recognize important people/events in history aren't removed.

Thus far, the review of Nimitz Library’s holdings has identified 900 books that may run afoul of the defense secretary’s verbal order. According to a second defense official, they include “The Autobiography of Martin Luther King Jr.,” “Einstein on Race and Racism,” and a biography on Jackie Robinson.

Mr. Hegseth is scheduled to visit the Naval Academy on Tuesday and to speak to the Brigade of Midshipmen. It is unclear whether the secretary expects the books to be removed before his arrival.

Defense officials said they were unaware whether the United States Military Academy at West Point, the United States Air Force Academy or the United States Coast Guard Academy had received similar orders, or whether the military’s graduate schools, such as the Naval War College and the Army’s Command and General Staff College, were expected to comply.

You would hope?

But I’d that turns out not to be the case…

Then what?

Where is your line in the sand?
Then, at some point in the future, we eventually return to a reasonable position.

To me, this is all apart of the normal pendulum swinging we often see with social topics. We had wokeness, cancel culture, DEI, etc as the pendulum swinging too far left and now we are swinging back, possibly too far, to the right.

At some point, we will swing back toward the middle and back toward a reasonable position.

Well that makes me feel better. 🫥
Can't wait to see all of those monuments to Confederate "heroes" going back up. I'm sure that will cause large-scale protests, and I'm sure that the Trump Administration will take full advantage of said protests. They're probably hoping to stir up protests so they can use force to shut them down.

Fwiw, I never had much objection to the war time and immediate postwar monuments. However, I have entirely different feelings about those set in place around the 50th anniversary. They weren't just memorializing the war but the Lost Cause. That was wrong then and now.

You have no idea what race and gender are about. None. The idea that black people and white people make decisions in the same way -- it's bunk. People are shaped by their experiences. Black people and white people have different experiences. Do you really think that Barack Obama would have been exactly who he was had he white skin and a white name?

And women versus men is an even easier case. There's a small library worth of research on differences in gender roles, behavior among people of different genders, etc. Some of that is about a nature/nurture debate. Some of it takes a more social psych approach. Some of it merely documents the different styles.

To take one example: minority and women directors of companies manage those companies differently than white men (and not identically to each other). There's loads of evidence that companies do better when they have diverse boards -- which is one reason that the attacks on "DEI" fall flat in corporate America. It is literally the case that a company forced to abandon DEI for the board of directors can be expected to perform worse, on average, than with DEI.

It's just mind-boggling that a person able to write coherent sentences would not realize that there is far more to being a woman than tits and ass. That's your theory, literally. Women are different from men because of tits and ass. This is the way you go through life?

Trump administration reportedly warns European companies to comply with anti-DEI order

“… The letters, distributed by the American embassies in Paris and across the E.U. also included a questionnaire ordering the companies to certify their compliance with federal anti-discrimination laws. The existence of the letter was first reported Friday by the French business daily Les Echos.

U.S. diplomats in eastern E.U. states and Belgium also sent out the letter, the Financial Times reported.

… The French finance ministry expressed concerns about the approach by the U.S. government, saying its values don’t reflect that of France. The development underscores growing tensions between the U.S. and Europe, particularly as the U.S. threatens tariffs on European goods including cars and wine, and challenges European policies, such as the invasion of Ukraine.”

It is a ridiculous thing for her to say. The fact that you think that boobs, a vagina and extra melanin is going to somehow prevent the mistake that made is as ridiculous as her comment.

She, like Boebert, makes AOC look like Neil deGrasse Tyson.
