The GOAT rock n roll band

please indulge an anecdote...

In high school we had a talent show, and a band sang this song. The lead singer went on to play in Don Williams' band and wrote a hit song " Tulsa Time " which was an ACM Award winner later covered by Eric Clapton. Here is a good version

nice guitar work for those three guys:cool:

Cool story! Danny wrote quite a few good tunes for Don Williams and others.

ok I was talking jazz with some folks today and I posed my ideal North Carolina jazz band:

John Coltrane (sax) born in hamlet NC grew up in High Point, NC
Thelonious Monk (piano) Rocky Mount NC
Woody Shaw (trumpet ) Laurinburg NC
Percy Heath ( bass ) Wilmington NC
Max Roach ( drums ) Newland NC
Nina Simone ( singer ) Tryon NC

Can another state match that group ?

some Nina...

Every time I see the Gavin Newsom addresses the nation thread, I think of this song. Yes, that is Ornette Coleman making a very rare appearance on someone else's album.
