If anyone in NC (outside of the mountains) is using AC or heat after today, this week, shame! On a non-hurricane note (though probably somewhat tied to Milton) it looks like central NC is in for our first stretch of honest-to-goodness fall weather, with highs in the 60s and low 70s and lows in the 40s and 50s over the next week or so. Personally it's my favorite weather of the year, where you can get away with barely running the AC or heat if you leave the windows open. And it's what I think of when I think of football weather - warm-ish in the day but you have to throw on a long-sleeved shirt or light coat when the sun goes down as it gets cool quickly. Also known as great firepit weather.
They are saying 2 or 3 at landfall. We'll see about that.
It gets them MAGA votes and Koch/Adelson/Theil $$$$.Why are these people so horrible?
The storm surge will still be a 4 or 5.They are saying 2 or 3 at landfall.
They go thru cycles. Really hard to stay and maintain cat 5Why is Milton forecasted to weaken before making landfall?
Also, in terms of forecasting, yesterday or the day before it was forecasted to become a Cat. 3 at the top end……today, it’s a 175 mph Cat. 5.
I don’t recall a storm accelerating this rapidly. Just a few days ago it was a funky little gulf depression that decided to travel the wrong way. Now, it’s looking like the greatest natural calamity to threaten the west coast of Florida in recorded meteorological history. They go thru cycles. Really hard to stay and maintain cat 5
But anyone suggesting it couldn't end up back there is foolish
24 hours ago it was supposed to max out at 110
Wilma was close I thinkI don’t recall a storm accelerating this rapidly. Just a few days ago it was a funky little gulf depression that decided to travel the wrong way. Now, it’s looking like the greatest natural calamity to threaten the west coast of Florida in recorded meteorological history.

First, I'm not a meteorologist. I've been following a thread of meteorologists discussing this. They are discussing shear, dry air, and other factors. Based on my limited knowledge, I'm assuming there is a wind stream of drier air that is projected to interact with the storm and disrupt it. It makes the storm weaker, but larger. Why is Milton forecasted to weaken before making landfall?
