And so, why do you think Elon is trustworthy enough to cut/not cut departments and programs independently of his own his self-interest, as opposed to the national interest? Do you think he's really in it for the well being of his fellow American?
I think he is definitely trustworthy enough to cut programs without regards to his self interest. Does Elon care that there is a lease for a social security office in Franklin, NC? Does Elon care about a DEI program in Serbia? How does cutting those serve some nefarious Musk agenda?

I do think that Musk is in it primarily for the budget cutting for the well being of the American people. I think he also likes the celebrity and I'm guessing the power is a bit of a narcotic, but I think his main motivation is to reduce government spending.

I sincerely hope you and those you care about get fired and brought back and yo-yo'ed around like that. It is what you need to teach you a little bit of hubris and empathy.
I sincerely hope you and those you care about don't have to go through it, but if it happens, understand that its not the end of the world.

Really? Why?

I mean from what I've read his self interest in government contracts runs billions deep.

Wow, so glad to see all the empathy for those getting fired.

Maybe you should tell @EyeballKid not to worry, he'll land on his feet if he looses his job so, according to you, it's not big deal.

Maybe you will get fired, so you can journal about what a wonderful experience it is.

But you would be wrong. @farchas a proven history, your history isn't so great.

What kind of complete ass wants to see people get fired and says it's not a big deal? You, you're that kind of ass.
I mentioned that I hoped he wasn't fired. I believe you maybe confused me with WMheel who wanted to see me fired... Or perhaps yourself imagining what it would be like for me to br fired.

But your ok with some idiot who knows nothing about our government or these agencies firing people. You're under the illusion that he isn't motivated by self interest, even though he went after people that had find our investigated his companies. And you post that losing one's job isn't a big deal. You're an ass.

I think we will eventually see no cuts to Social Security as part of DOGE except around the edges like closing rural SSA offices. I think we will see significant cuts to Medicaid which will eventually mostly be rolled back as folks realize their local hospital will close, and some significant cuts to VA which will be somewhat rolled back as VA is expensive and tends to have a small voting block.

I think that we may see some combination of raising the social security age or raising the income contribution cap as part of Congressional action.

I think they should hire more inspectors general to go after Medicare and Medicaid fraud which is enormous but Doge is going the other way for headlines and to punish Trump perceived enemies. I hope they hire more inspectors even if it is within HHS, and the mandate is to focus purely on medicaid and Medicare fraud.

I actually think the VA is pretty efficient. Maybe roll back some of the overseas locations but in general, I don't think they will find too much fraud or waste.

Define enormous?

And what a stupid plan, cut medicaid, then roll back the cuts when they fail.

So much efficiency, it's mind boggling.
