Putin doesn't care if the US becomes like Russia. He just wants the US weak and divided. And his campaign in that regard has been extremely successful. There's no realistic scenario in which the US can be conquered from the outside, but it absolutely can tear itself apart from the inside. That's what Putin believes he can accomplish.
I don’t think he cares what destroys the US from within, but he sees Trump as an opportunity. Appealing to Trump’s desire to be a kleptocrat is the easiest way to weaken the US. It motivates Trump and Putin has experience in how to become one.

Kleptocracy isn’t the goal but it would achieve the goal.

A bit off-topic but relevant to this thread:

I think I always misinterpreted the meaning of "leopards at my face". When I first heard it, I had mental images of the lady who had an orangutan as a pet (a stupid decision) and it ate her face (a consequence that is obvious to everyone except her). So that is how I interpreted that phrase and of course being harmed by a leopard is more obvious than an orangutan.

Upon reading more, the point is that the person unleashes a leopard on the public (supports cruelty) and then is surprised to find out that the leopard turned on them too.

I think both interpretation could work and sometimes one works more than the other but the second one definitely makes sense. Just a random thought as I am trying to go to sleep.

Yes, it comes from a meme. The woman votes for the Leopards' Eating People's Faces Party, and then exclaims, "I never thought they'd eat my face." It's about thinking that the people promising harm won't harm you.

The arrogance of that letter. These folks can rightly fuck off a pier. I hope for an abundance of misery for all of them.
I do too, and I am one of them (ethnically speaking, not ideologically). I still have family living in Dearborn Heights, Birmingham, and in Franklin. Really one of the more dumbfounding stances I've seen from a group in this election cycle.

Yeah, but it won't make any difference to Trumpers and most of the news media. They'll continue claiming that he won an epic victory in a landslide - one of the bigglyest ever, no doubt. In truth this is going to end up as a narrow victory, especially in the popular vote, and Trump's "mandate", if he has one, is by the slimmest of margins. But given that they're Republicans they'll govern as if he won 65% of the vote. George W. Bush did that as well - he beat Gore by the tiniest of margins, but governed like he'd won in a landslide. And you can argue that it eventually backfired, if not on him then on his party in 2006 and 2008. We'll see what happens this time, I guess.

Still not great that half the country chose not to vote for a person who could coherently string two sentences together and didn't spend the last two months of the campaign yelling about black people when he was dementia swaying to the Village people.

America deserves it fall.
This is the take^^^
The United States of America deserves everything it’s gonna get in the next 4 years, and beyond. The changes coming may be irrevocably damaging. It’s been a bumpy ride the past 250 years. But this failed experiment is about to come crashing down, and the remainder of the world can have at the remains.

So who do you think benefits the most? Russia? China? Middle East power brokers? (Includes Saudi, Iran, Taliban, Hamas, etc. etc.); European Union? Other?
