"...Palestinians displaced from Gaza to neighboring countries under a U.S. proposal would not have the right to return to the enclave, President Donald Trump said in an interview with Fox News about his proposal to “own” the Gaza Strip and develop real estate there.


Fox released a portion of the interview, conducted by Bret Baier, early Monday. “Think of it as a real estate development for the future. It would be a beautiful piece of land,” Trump said of the proposal, which he first floated last week during Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s visit to Washington.

Asked by Baier if Palestinians would be allowed to return to Gaza, Trump replied: “No, they wouldn’t because they’re going to have much better housing. In other words, I’m talking about building a permanent place for them.” Trump mentioned Jordan and Egypt as countries that Gaza’s Palestinians would be sent to, and he expressed optimism about making a “deal” with the two governments.

“You know, we give them billions and billions of dollars a year,” he said...."

I think what Trump is setting up, to the extent this strategy is coherent enough to be setting up anything, is the elimination of all aid to Egypt and Jordan. If they won't let us build a new Palestinian Dubai on their land, they won't get another dime from us. Which, of course, would be a MASSIVE gift to China.

That would make sense.

In addition to the China angle - which is a good point - It would I think mean an increase of jihadism in those countries, but I guess then we just get to play with our military toys, I guess.

I continue to hope that Trump doesn't lead us into a hot war, and if he can just keep it out of those I'll be so relieved four years from now. I'm really concerned that he's going to want to fight someone who will fight back.

Be fair, Rai, they’re about rooting out corruption, and corruption likes to hide behind DEI.

They will absolutely stand up for the oppressed minorities of the land, see the Afrikaners.
 
The day after Trump first said the US would own Gaza, Marco was one of several who were out walking it back the next day. Maybe it will be clearer for him this time.

Easy. Cease fire ends on Saturday, Israel launches heavy strikes, Jordan and Egypt are blackmailed into taking everyone from Gaza, US troops end up there eventually. Will simply piss off the entire Muslim world. Get ready for GWOT round two baby. He's probably hoping for an attack that will give him justification to send our troops into Gaza.
