Sounds like Belichick says he will come coach UNC IF all his demands are met and there is some pushback from various groups at the university. He has all the power right now and I think in the end we won't agree to everything.

Dude is on the cusp of the NFL coaching wins record and no team will hire him. Isn’t that another bright red flag for anyone?
That bothers me less than his age and the requirement that his son be coach in waiting. His age means he's an interim answer and the coach in waiting thing is stupid to me. If he doesn't win there's no way we're hiring his son from the staff so all that does is add another buyout to the mix. If he does win we'd likely be willing to give it to his son anyway, but I don't like having some kind of requirement to do so.

Given BB's history, him requiring complete control to take an NFL job isn't an earth shattering revelation and NFL teams typically don't like to give that up. So that isn't really a red flag in my mind.

Why not skip over Bill and offer his son the HC position ? He is young and the stats this year indicate he has been a pretty good DC. It would be a shot in the dark but any coach we could talk into coming to UNC will be a shot in the dark.

Yeah I think even if Bill has lost a little of the edge he knows more about winning football than anyone in a position of power at UNC.

Is the Athletic Reform Group ( made up of disgruntled envious profs that sabotaged the football and basketball programs years ago ) still around ?

If so, I am sure those guys will weigh in on Bill's plans for UNC football and not in a good way:rolleyes:

Who is the current football GM that he is demanding be bought out and brought to UNC? Bama's dude? He makes $2.5m now.

Sounds like this might be a done deal. Planning on spending $10mil on the roster as a way of auditioning for Big 10 or SEC.

UNC football. 8 or more wins - a very successful season, .500 or better - par for the course. Take this approach and you will not be as frustrated EVERY STINKING YEAR!

This is one of the most interesting questions IMO. The GM will be the "face" of the program almost as much as Bill in terms of recruiting, glad-handing, etc - at least i think that's how someone envisioned it.

With the name recognition and the success in other sports there is no reason why UNC shouldn't be successful in football, too. SEC schools are successful now in football and basketball. UNC should be able to do that, too, if they are willing to pay for it.

A lot of UNC fans are obsessed with our football program remaining mediocre and get upset when anyone suggests that we can maybe be better than 7 wins, repeatedly getting beat by State, and letting JMU score 70 points on us at home.

BB knows zero about how to build a winning college football program. Is he smart enough to figure it out? Maybe. Does he have the energy, patience, and stamina at age 73? Doubtful.

Profs protesting would certainly help sway the BOT/BOG.

This, right here, is the crucial element that I think a lot of folks are missing. This move is absolutely about being more attractive to the big 2 conferences in the hopes of making the switch. I'm less concerned about the number of wins and losses that occur under Belichick and very much concerned about how this helps us move forward as a university in the NIL/Transfer portal era.

SEC schools have a leg up on the ACC. Seriously. Did you all just not see what happened in the ACC SEC Challenge? The ACC was slaughtered. And it's going to get worse moving forward. We need to stop acting like its an even playing field with SEC/Big Ten schools. Investing in Belichick helps with that. It's not about who is the best coach anymore. It's about who can bring in the talent. If you honestly think that the other names being bandied around are going to be able to get the talent that Belichick gets, for however long he is here, then I honestly don't know what to tell you. He'll also bring in a staff to do the vast majority of the high energy stuff - recruiting, practice, x's and o's. He'd come as a figurehead, a motivator, and a disciplinarian.
