“… Following reports that Bill Belichick is in discussions for a coaching position at the University of North Carolina, his former players Tom Brady, Rob Gronkowski and Julian Edelman shared their thoughts about it.

In response to Curt Menefee asking whether they can see him coaching football at the college level, all three said no.

"I think there's a lot of things he can do and obviously he's tremendous and even showing his personality, but getting out on the recruiting trail and dealing with all these college kids, I would be frightened," Brady said.

"Could you imagine Bill on the couch recruiting an 18-year-old?" Edelman added.

I still have premium at Tar Pit, and the volume of threads and info is insane. I've been keeping up, or trying to, on a daily basis over the last week and it's nigh impossible. Edit, of course most is rehash upon speculated rehash of speculated rumor.

Well, he's already recruited a nice 24 year old.

Anyone else having Dick Vermeil flashbacks? — I got really excited about getting him to turn around UNC’s football program and somehow that opportunity ended up with John Bunting (on Vermeil's recommendation IIRC). LOL.

Dude is on the cusp of the NFL coaching wins record and no team will hire him. Isn’t that another bright red flag for anyone?

Yikes. I forgot about Vermeil.

Query: Does this guy have good info? I mean, this is a very specific report and all, but has he been accurate on anything he's reported in the past? I don't know who he is -- I generally do like The Guardian reporting; and he seems like his sourcing will be on the NFL side of things, which makes me a little more suspect of his info on the insular world of the university side of things. But then again, the info from UNC football insiders over the decades has been pretty damned suspect, as well.

Back to we know when we know.

It is for me. The anonymous interviews from teams that had head coaching vacancies said there was a big stumbling block on belichick's need for complete control of personnel. Basically he wanted to bring his guys in without a GM or even an owner veto.

That is the $100 dollar question. He tweets that Belichick has agreed to coach UNC. But he seemingly contradicts himself later with saying demands need to be met. The twitter/X aggregate bots are already picking up that Belichick is the new coach.
