United Healthcare CEO shot and killed

At least you all aren't trying to hide how you feel anymore. Beer company CEOs, watch out.
I'm literally quoting one from the Reddit he had just posted.

Your weird beer straw man makes zero sense by the way.

It's awful this guy was murdered.
It's also very understandable why he was so hated. His company is evil. All for profit insurance is detestable. Doesn't justify murder, but maybe some solid involuntary manslaughter (actually voluntary in many cases) would be valid

How does it make no sense? We're talking about open season on the heads of corporations that profit off of death and suffering, right?

For as much as people seem to be gloating about this guy's death, I'm willing to bet that 99% of the people celebrating the murder would have no qualms taking that exact same position for seven figures.

You're not good at this.

Gloating and celebrating is not what's happening. Did you not succeed in English class?

"We're not gloating. We're just making fun of this person's death and making excuses for it, but since we aren't specifically saying we are 'gloating' that isn't what we are doing." Please.

Not at all. The dude (or dudette) in charge of those corporations makes millions off of products that kill, maim, and disable people.
Again, people choose to drink beer. People don't choose to get cancer or other illnesses that are no fault of their own. You really going to compare a guy drinking beer to a.kid with cancer? And illnesses like that kill a lot more people than alcohol does. It's really a stupid comparison.

People don't choose to get slammed into by drunk drivers. People don't choose to get beaten by alcoholic parents. Alcohol is addictive and coincidentally contributes to a lot of cancers. Why are you JCDing millionaires who get rich off of killing people?

Good lord, can we please stop derailing an otherwise intriguing (but also very sad) thread with this JCD bullshit? No one is taking the bait.
If people wouldn't make light (or worse) of this man's murder, I would have nothing to quote.

I see you're an idiot, and I am at the point in my life where I don't have the time or energy to engage with idiots. So, super ignore it is. Have fun talking to yourself.

Where are the "no one is celebrating this guy's murder" people now?

Crickets.
We have no doubt that there are folks out there who don't give 2 shits that the murder took place, and some may even have a bit of schadenfreude-type "glee". But no one on this board seems to have indicated they feel that way, yet you still seem hell bent on baiting. Why? And as far as beer CEO's and that analogy... why not call out the CEO of McDonald's or other shitty fast food factories for the death and mayhem they cause? There are several industries we could call out. How about the CEO of a popular gun manufacturer? Now that would be some just desserts wouldn't it? Remington Firearms CEO Ken D'Arcy would be an appropriate target don't you think?

But I'll admit, I have been the one reminding folks of the guillotines... but that's just pointing out recent history.

Let's put all that aside. The dude who murdered the CEO is the one who has fucked around and he's probably about to find out.

Absolutely. I think all of those people would be fair game in this war that many people (not on here) are advocating. Which is why I think it is ridiculous and needs to be called out. Zeynep Tufekci (another UNC alumnae) has an article about this in the NYT today. At the time of her writing the article, 75k of the 80k reactions of UHC's social media post announcing the murder of their CEO were the "laughing" emojis. As I've said before, I'm willing to bet that 99.9% of those 75k people would accept $10 million per year to fill the exact same position with zero qualms or hesitation. Was this guy evil while the rest of us are somehow pure? Absolutely not.

Like I said, those folks are feeling a bit of schadenfreude-type "glee" because - in the comfort of their own homes - they think it's sort of a comeuppance for the CEO. Perhaps folks feel the CEO Fucked Around and Found Out. But given that, I doubt we are seeing the tipping point of the all-out "war on CEO's of companies which may cause death and destruction directly due to the product(s) they produce or supply." And, again NOBODY on this board is advocating for such.

We are ALL in agreement with you that the murder was terrible, horrific, ill-advised, incendiary, horrible, thoughts and prayers for the family, etc. etc. And I think we are all in agreement with you that no one should be "celebrating" a murder, of any kind, even - and perhaps especially - this one. No one on this board wants to see "open season" on CEO's.

Hell, I'm a jazz musician... do you know how many people HATE jazz?
