I just try to give some folks the benefit of the doubt, recognizing that I am as guilty, or more guilty than anyone else here, of trash-talking, especially during live-action threads like this. I certainly don't want to be judged holistically by my behavior on these types of threads, so I try not to judge others by them either, if that makes sense.
 
Shapiro would have been better tonight than Walz. While J.D. may have won on style points, I don't think his performance will move too many voters (particularly with his answers on abortion and the 2020 election). This debate will be forgotten long before last month's Harris/Trump square-off.

The debate did make me wonder when the last time a man with facial hair ran for Prez or VP. Thomas Dewey in 1948?
 
Vance came off better, though he lied a bunch. Walz looked a little nervous at times but had the more salient moments (health care and J6).

No one is changing their votes based on tonight.

Don’t give him the benefit of the doubt. He has never earned it. He’s one of the trolls responsible for shutting down the IC board after the Biden/Trump debate.

Agree with all of the above. Shapiro would have been a better debater, almost certainly. But I’m still just as happy with Walz as the VP part of the ticket.
 
Vance performed much better tonight than I was expecting. Can’t stand the guy, but I’ll give him props on his public speaking skills. Walz stumbled some, as I thought he would… he already admitted to being a poor debater. He was able to land the effective jab about the non-answer and Pence though. Frankly I found it refreshing to see a debate with some modicum of respect and agreement between the two candidates. Not sure that it will have any effect whatsoever on the race.

We agree on far more than this forum allows. I am incredibly busy with the death of a family member, my son’s sports schedule, work, and my daughter just received a devastating diagnosis that will require a ton of time with research and travel for medical treatment. I will pop in from time to time. In all honesty I have made peace with the fact that I think Harris wins. As things turn to shit I will come back to say I told you so. And if trump were to win I will come back to say I told you so. Peace to you. Go Heels

He did, same as he has always responded. He is a Yale grad, and wants to be VP, but as recently as 2015, he allowed the evil media to fool him and lie about Trump. Now, he knows the truth about the Messiah and his wondrous virtues.

Vice presidential debates never change anything. Dan Quayle was destroyed in his 1988 veep debate and George H.W. Bush won by a handsome margin anyway. Palin didn't kill McCain's chances of winning, the economic collapse that autumn and Dubya's extreme unpopularity and the excitement around Obama's campaign that year did. This debate isn't going to change anything either. Hell, with the way this campaign has gone people will have forgotten all about it within a week or so anyway.
