Wow. I can't thank you guys enough for teaching me so much. You all are a truly special set of folks. It's exceptionally rare to see this level of camaraderie based around Internet discussion.

Like nycfan I go back to NandO.net. Then Chen, etc. Found IC and mostly lurked the free bball board which I quit visiting a few years ago. Then the ZZL...

Still check the ZZL for the occasional interesting thread. And vtheel's one post a week thread just because. Talk about dedication.

Can't believe no one has mentioned ManhattanHeel. Or Bo.
Wasn't Manhattan Heel the poster who got into a bitter, long-running feud with Wolpfackers and it eventually became personal to the point of trying to get people fired from their jobs or some such? I remember that she was very controversial, even among UNC posters. God, that seems so long ago.

Bo - or at least someone using "ItsBoTime" - has registered here. OCS89 was making spoof accounts of legit posters on the ZZLP as of the last several days, so not sure if it's really him or OCS.

I miss the old school trolls (pre-Trump) too:
IAmBuckwheat (aka "IAmBaitwheat")
Trackstyle
MotelInn
DeacCity
Ssssteve
upheels
TVTray
StagecoachDriver
NegativeZero

Randman and Falconjet aren't really trolls as much as they are conspiracy theory type folks. Falconjet seems more reasonable recently though.

I want to say Bo's initial claim to fame was him posting about some troubles he was having with a girl he was dating, and that he cried during sex with her. After that, it was him JCDing any kind of questionable incident involving a law enforcement officer, no matter how heinous his offense. I don't remember why he was eventually banned, but he's come back with multiple handles since then.

I'm old now, and my memory isn't nearly what it once was.

She was hell on wheels. Her hate for dookies was awesome as well.

Yeah that was stupid too. There was a troll at pack pride who was particularly vicious and was photoshopping her face on to porn and things like that, stalking her facebook etc. I happened to know who it was because he worked a guy UI played fantasy baseball with (a Carolina alum) at an RTP pharmaceutical company. The packpride guy freely shared his handle with the guy as he was proud of his trolling. The guy I knew was talking about it and said basically you would never guess his board persona from his real life personality etc. When i was talking to MH about what my friend said about how you would never guess he was like that online, I accidentally let the pharmaceutical company name slip and she messaged the guy that tidbit like she knew all about him or something. Scout or insiders or whatever it was at the time banned her for doxxing, and the PP conspiracy theory was that IC was looking up NC state posters IP addresses and leaking that info to our posters etc.

Just a big effing mess that I was partly responsible for because I said one sentence too much.

IIRC, back in the ACC Board days, there was an All-ACC non-sports board called "Town Hall." I was banned for a year from that board and came to the ZZL to get my snark fix. The cause of my 12 month ban arose from George the Younger's Excellent Adventure in Iraq. One of the Town Hall board moderators was a Maryland alum/fan who was pushing the idea that George the Young was more justified in intervening in Iraq than Truman had been in Korea. When I posted a UN Resolution dated two weeks before the US military intervention started that called on member countries to assist South Korea with supplies and manpower, it was too much and I was banned for a year. But I found the ZZL, via an email from a previously banned fellow alumnus, and it, and later ZZLP, served as an excellent outlet for my lame snark. With this board, I am hoping for two things: 1) Because, with age, I have come to the realization that my lame snark is way lamer than I have ever realized and, as such, I should focus on reading and learning and avoid the impulse to share my dubious wit with others and 2) Continue using this board as something of a "news collecting" site to alert me to current events that I should learn more about without the tedious effort of actually combing through the barren wilderness of the internet every day.

A lot of you guys have a good memory! Had forgotten about a lot of these things. I have been on and off the boards for years, a lot of lurking, a little posting here and there. I got to IC during the will he/won't he days of Roy Williams coming back to UNC. I was initially just on the basketball forums, but eventually wandered over to the ZZL. The ZZL was a fantastic way to waste time during my grad school days in the 00s. I met a few posters IRL and that was a hoot. I've also found out through the years that I've had connections to some posters without realizing who they were. But I drifted away from message boards after a while... as a woman, I kind of got tired of a lot of the nonsense (bikini threads and a locker room vibe got old) and also just got busy with life. I returned when I found the ZZLP during the 2016 elections. Then the Covid thread and the 2020 election had me hooked for a while. Glad everyone has migrated over here... it's always interesting to hear others' (mostly informed) perspectives and keep up with the latest news from NYC.

@altmin , FWIW, you were and are definitely one of the better moderators in IC history. At the time I joined IC back in 2010, the mods were, IIRC:

Altmin
DigitalCoach
Heels68
Calheel
Rotawa68
Unc1012

You and DC and Cal were usually pretty cool about stuff and were approachable by poasters for a variety of reasons. I don't think Rota ever did any kind of moderating, ever.

If 68 or 1012 got involved with something, it was usually something more serious. Or 68 getting bent out of shape when he perhaps shouldn't have. Back then, I remember 68's avatar was young Leon Trotsky.

But I digress. You did a great job, and I'm glad you're also back to using your Megaman avatar :)

She was hell on wheels. Her hate for dookies was awesome as well.
I remember on one of the two old NC State boards (I believe there used to be two active Wolpfacker boards instead of just PackPride) they hated her with a passion, but I also got the sense that at least some of them were afraid of her as well. She was definitely in their heads for sure.

Haha. Now that you mention it I remember Bo posting that story about crying during sex with his girlfriend, and I couldn't believe that anyone would post something so personal on an anonymous sports board. And he was ridiculed about it endlessly, and given his posting style he really had it coming, imo. Just a really obnoxious poster, and you're right about him defending police officers no matter what, including news stories about very questionable police/law enforcement behavior. Any post that was even mildly critical of law enforcement was like a bat signal to him.

Will Blythe talks a bit about her in his book.

I also remember one of the longest continuous threads being the “what we need is a good old fashioned Fing thread”. It was so random, but so funny.
We did. Fing threads were from the days when we thought 8-20 couldn't happen. Then it did.
