You do realize she emerged as the last person standing against Trump in the primaries right? After there were many people on the stage to start. She didn’t exactly fall flat on her face in the primary like Kamala 2020 or something.

DeSantis ran an awful campaign. Haley ran a good one.
“After there were many people on the stage to start.”

Most of that “many” dropped out in 2023 or before Iowa. Five candidates were still in the race at the Iowa Caucuses (1/15). Trump won; DeSantis finished second; Haley was third.

DeSantis (1/16), Vivek (1/15) and Asa Hutchinson 1/21) dropped out almost immediately after Iowa.

Nikki Haley won <20% of the vote in a 1 v. 1 race against Trump.

Trump was the presumptive nominee on March 12. Haley had suspended her campaign on March 6.

It’s a stretch to say she ran a good campaign.

It’s not a power play. Rogan has the #1 podcast in the world - and he doesn’t ever travel to do his show. Trump, and now JD, are making the investment. The Harris campaign didn’t ask other podcast hosts to come to her.

And it’s worth the investment, even if it took a full day. What’s better, a rally of 5-20k people who are already voting for you, or 30M views on the number one podcast with a simpleton audience (as you guys would probably put it) that could be swayed?

She’s had weeks to make it work. If it doesn’t happen, the Harris campaign never actually wanted it to happen. Which is a mistake IMO.
I agree. If it is really as close as we think it is, then getting onto Rogan could only help unless she was afraid she'd botch answers or convo. If she can do Howard Stern, why not Rogan? I hope future Dem pols gets on there.

At a minimum she comes across as normal and non-weird in contrast to Trump...

Is the incel crowd really in play?

With campaign appearances in battleground states, the candidates are on a lot of local news (TV, radio, print). They can do interviews with local media. It’s not just one appearance.

I don't listen to Rogan, so I have no idea if he'd actually give her a fair interview. But he would be fully in charge of how he wants his listeners to vote. He controls the questions. His listeners are the wrong demographic, so how many could she actually switch? It's not a guaranteed win so why waste a full day on it?

Yeah, no. Rogan’s just not that important.

First time I’ve looked at that Twitter page, but every tweet is about political ads so it looks reputable to me.
AdImpact is a reputable ad intelligence company that tracks political advertising/content/spending. They have competitors like Kantar/MediaRadar.

They don’t ostensibly have a political leaning, but I don’t know much about the people who run it.

Eh, I don’t see it as a mistake. It might’ve been something to do a month ago. But in the final days, the energy and effort, plus risk/reward aren’t worth it.

Not many persuadables among his audience, and the last thing she needs right now are bad viral moments coming out of an uncontrolled setting for a low reward audience.

Just more evidence of a comment I made yesterday - when they are the ones insulting and attacking people, and often in the most personal ways - then it's just fun and games and their targets just need to toughen up and get over it. But when they're the ones who feel attacked then they're just poor victims of librul cancel culture and wokeism and nasty women and it all needs to stop, pronto. Their double standard is very real.

The thing I don't understand about the Biden "gaffe" tonight is that it wasn't a gaffe. In the very same sentence, he indicates he's talking about one person.
