I have the utmost respect for sanitation workers. And in theory, I agree with you that it would be fun to take a ride on a truck, although I'd rather be standing on the back, tbh. But I refuse to let Trump's supporters off the hook for this. You may be right it's not a big deal to them at this point. But this is the man they want to hold the nuclear codes, to stand face-to-face with Putin and Xi, to lead the response to natural disasters. How can they possibly take this man seriously??? I really don't understand it. He's been a joke his entire life. He's becoming a parody of a joke as he nears the end of his life.

I'm very confident we win this election. Most of that will be because Kamala is a great candidate to hold the most powerful elected position in the world. But let's not discount the fact that her opponent is the butt of every joke. He's a fraud, a scam artist, a snake oil salesman. And instead of pretending he's something else in the last days of this election, he basically stripped naked in Red Square and showed his cremini to the world.

I repeat -- I don't know how this pathetic (but revealing) stunt isn't the lead story everywhere.
I once went on a double date in a friend's daddy's oil tanker. We picked up his girlfriend and her older sister who was closer to my age and drove down to a seafood place in Sneads Ferry for supper.

Now, that's a TOTALLY different story. That's a baller move if I've ever seen one.

Man, I hate election season. Especially presidential years. Everyone is so mean all the time. People should just vote and stop the hate. AND LIVE WITH THE RESULTS even if it doesn't go your way.
Think we'd all be fine with that, and we were good basically until 2016. Trump changed the way its done and made it all about love or hate, no compromise, win at all costs. Only way we get back to what you want is for him to lose.

Wanted to make sure I wasn't talking out of my ass when I said that Biden's comment about Trump supporters being garbage has been completely eclipsed by Trump cosplaying as a garbage truck workers. I went to all of the prominent political subreddits that I routinely peruse to see what the chatter is. There was only one- r/conservative, if you can believe it!- where the Biden comments were being discussed. Every single other one of the politics subreddits, each of which have a pretty wide variety of posters with different political leanings- were laughing about how insanely ridiculous Trump looked yesterday and how moronic his viral comments were about "I'll do it to women whether they like it or not."

The whole "Biden called Trump supporters garbage" is a bigger story right now than "Some dude at a Trump rally called Puerto Rico floating garbage"

So that's why Trump is going with the garbage imagery.

Did you miss the Biden comment or something? Because your posts where you can't understand the Trump garbage truck thing make it seem like you don't know about the Biden garbage comment, which would explain your confusion if that's true.
No it’s not remotely bigger than the Puerto Rico story. In fact, Biden’s gaffe has only further illuminated the racism that took place at Trump’s MSG rally.

I know you WISH the Biden gaffe was a bigger story, but it is not. Two days later, and the only place it’s still relevant is in the diseased minds of the MAGA garbage that need something to feel aggrieved over.

Nobody else gives a shit. And your icon, Donald Trump guaranteed that by one-upping Biden less than 24 hours later by calling Democrats “scumbags.”

Let me just elaborate on this a tiny bit for HY's benefit. Trump has been consistently calling America a "garbage can" for the last two weeks. And at his giant "closing argument" rally in MSG, the first speaker called Puerto Rico a "floating pile of garbage." These things have been heard by, let's say 70% of Americans.

Biden then makes a stupid comment in an obscure interview that's taken out context by right wing media, and that's amplified to, let's say 30% of Americans.

Trump then responds by taking the ENTIRE DAY five days from the election to portray himself as the Captain of American Garbage, including by doing circles on a tarmac hanging out the passenger side of his best friend's ride, trying to holla at his dipshit supporters who somehow think a man who shits on golden toilet seats gives a crap about their lives.

HY, do you not see how this was an absolutely MASSIVE political error??? It won't make a difference because Trump was losing anyway, but holy freaking cow -- this should be written about for centuries in political campaign manuals as Example 1A in how you do NOT want to close a campaign.

Nah, not even remotely close. It may still be a big story in right wing MAGAsphere, but everyone else has moved on to laughing at the dude wearing oompa-loompa orange bronzer stumbling like a drunk getting into a garbage truck and doing dougnuts on an airport tarmac. As I told everyone on this thread yesterday, Biden's (accurate) gaffe about Trump supporters being garbage didn't even have a shelf life of....12 hours.
Figured I should just quickly add, I think that Trump supporters' *support* of Trump, who is a garbage person, is garbage. I don't personally believe that every single Trump supporter is garbage as a *person*. Figured I'd make that distinction, for whatever little it's worth. I’ve got many family members whose support of Trump I consider to be completely indefensible garbage, but who I personally do not believe to be garbage as people on the whole.

None of that will stop until trump is out of politics.

Candidly I'm not sure how much of it will stop even then, because the Republican Party is dominated by people that see the Trump style as the way to win now. But it definitely will continue, and probably get worse, while Trump is around.

Trump literally called Democrats garbage multiple times throughout the summer and early fall, and THEN changed it to an even worse message and called them the enemies from within.

IMAGINE how much trumpers would piss and moan if Harris called maga her enemies. They would lose their shit for daaaaays.

I want to agree with you about this. But I think it's presumptuous to know how the electorate is going to react until five days from now. Trump's garbage stunt SHOULD be a disaster for him. Just like 150 other things from 2015 to the present that SHOULD have been a disaster for him, but many of them somehow weren't. The man was on national TV like 45 days ago saying "they're eating the cats, they're eating the dogs."

Also, I think it's a little naive to think that Biden's comment only got amplified on right-wing media. it has been all over "mainstream" media too. I'm hopeful that few outside of the MAGA fools who were already voting Trump will care. But certainly not taking a victory lap on that now.

Lol. Nobody's Googling Trump's view on Puerto Rico because it's been all over the national news sources for the last 96 hours. Also known as "crunch time" for the campaigns.

I’m just telling you. All of non-MAGA social media and non-right wing media sources have moved far past whatever non-candidate Joe Biden said on a Zoom interview.

If you think that Biden calling Trump supporters garbage is going to have more of a net positive for Trump than the Trump campaign calling Puerto Ricans garbage is going to have a net negative in a state like Pennsylvania where there are 400,000 Puerto Ricans, we’re definitely gonna have to agree to disagree.

I probably buried the lede because I'm so agog at Trump's determination to piss on his own loafers. I don't think any of this matters. Kamala was winning two months ago. She was winning two weeks ago. She was winning two days ago. She's winning today, she'll be winning tomorrow, and she'll win on Tuesday. I truly think this election has been baked for months, and we just need to, and will, do all the work required to bring it home.

Google results are about as bipartisan as we can get, no? Everyone uses Google...

I agree that Trump in the garbage truck has now surpassed both a) Biden's comment, and b) comedian's Puerto Rico comment at Trump's rally. But I think what I shared makes it pretty clear that Biden's garbage comment is still drawing more clicks/search results than the comedian's Puerto Rico garbage comment.

The thing about Trump in the garbage truck is that both sides are talking about it, whereas only the right was talking about Biden garbage comment and only the left was talking about Puerto Rico garbage comment.

The thing is, i'm not sure they really take him seriously.

I think a lot of his supporters have fully bought into the idea that the government doesn't do very much that is actually worthwhile. And so I think many of them know that he's a joke, but they're ok because with Trump they're in on the joke. If the whole thing is a farce, then why not put a clown in charge. And especially a clown who hate the same folks you hate and make fun of the same folks you make fun of and, occasionally, he does something they actually like (abortion)

Trump being a troll is one of a feature to his base, not a bug.
