This is fascinating to me.

How long is/was she planning on staying in the US for this trip?

I'm not sure...couple months?

It sort of depended on how the long distance thing translated into an IRL thing.

Wife and I have a condo at the beach. We had multiple 3 month renters at the end of 25 and start of 26 and a couple of 1 month renters upcoming in the next couple of months. All were from Canada. When all of this stuff started with Canada, we lost all of those renters (and income...). Last time we were there a couple of weeks ago, I talked to a lady that was renting another unit that was also from Canada. She said they were going to finish their rental time next month and wouldn't consider coming back until things changed.

This seems like a bluff to me.

I know the stakes are high for Canada but they need to call Trump’s bluff here. Don’t give concessions because we are making moves that appear that we will attack Canada.

People need to learn to punch back on Trump. Don’t give in to him.

Trump is so shortsighted that he doesn’t place a value on having allies. Just like in his personal life, all interactions are transactional and it is always a competition that you try to win at any cost m.

Navarro was interviewed on NPR today and referred to this as “fake news.” He didn't outright deny it. Instead he used it as an opportunity to disparage what he referred to as the “mainstream media” or “MSM.” My guess is that because he referred to it as “fake news,” it’s actually true.

Canadian provinces starting the lobbying groundwork to re-route oil sales. Getting a pipeline to Halifax or St. John means they can use it more domestically and sell it to Europe rather than the U.S.

Canada, Mexico, Chyna, Euro are the new trading and economic alliances.

We'll be lucky if the dollar remains the gold standard currency. If our currency is downgraded, we'll be 2010 Greece.

Correct. We are literally a repulsive economy and the antithesis of a reliable trading, economic, and military power.

I think the Canadian provinces should be states 51-60 with Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland, and New Zealand becoming 61-65.

That should fix the current Electoral College and US Senate imbalances/ This should please the MAGA folks: it will make the country more "white" albeit a good bit more progressive so win/win

I can't find the tariff thread for some reason, but this seems like a ridiculous request.

U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent encouraged Canada on Friday to follow Mexico in matching U.S. tariffs on Chinese goods as the two U.S. neighbors sought to avoid punishing 25% U.S. tariffs due on Tuesday over fentanyl trafficking.
Canadian and Mexican officials have fanned out across Washington seeking to show President Donald Trump's administration that they were making progress in securing their U.S. borders to curb the flow of the dangerous opioid.

Bessent, speaking in a Bloomberg Television interview, said Mexico had proposed matching the U.S. tariffs aimed at China, but he did not specify which level. Trump on February 4 imposed a 10% duty on all Chinese imports, then said on Thursday he would double that to 20% from Tuesday.
"I think it would be a nice gesture if the Canadians did it also - so in a way, we could have fortress North America from the flood of Chinese imports that's coming out of the most unbalanced economy in the history of modern times," Bessent said.
