I don't watch hockey, but I was delighted to wake up this morning and see that Team Canada beat Team USA. I will never pull for the USA in anything while Trump is president, and I can justify that because what is currently happening in our country is not American. As far as I'm concerned, we've been
overtaken by the enemy and are now a different country entirely. And since our citizens voted for it, I don't feel the least bit bad about rejecting it.
I get what you're saying but I pretty strongly disagree. We're still stronger as a union than as a divided nation. As bad as we are trending, I can honestly say that the 50s through the 80s were definitely worse. History indicates the same about the time of the robber barons.

I'm more concerned that both sides are being played by forces who would like to end our system of government. I don't think either side wants that although, imo, one side has been seriously manipulated to support those who want that.

I lived through the 60s, 70s and 80s and I can say without a doubt they we were more United, as a country, than we are today. The only time in our history where we were this divided was the 1850s.

"We" were more united because all the minorities of any type were ignored and 80-90% of the country considered themselves Christian. Imo, that's the wrong way to be united.

This is fascinating to me.

How long is/was she planning on staying in the US for this trip?

I'm not sure...couple months?

It sort of depended on how the long distance thing translated into an IRL thing.

Wife and I have a condo at the beach. We had multiple 3 month renters at the end of 25 and start of 26 and a couple of 1 month renters upcoming in the next couple of months. All were from Canada. When all of this stuff started with Canada, we lost all of those renters (and income...). Last time we were there a couple of weeks ago, I talked to a lady that was renting another unit that was also from Canada. She said they were going to finish their rental time next month and wouldn't consider coming back until things changed.

This seems like a bluff to me.

I know the stakes are high for Canada but they need to call Trump’s bluff here. Don’t give concessions because we are making moves that appear that we will attack Canada.

People need to learn to punch back on Trump. Don’t give in to him.

Trump is so shortsighted that he doesn’t place a value on having allies. Just like in his personal life, all interactions are transactional and it is always a competition that you try to win at any cost m.

Navarro was interviewed on NPR today and referred to this as “fake news.” He didn't outright deny it. Instead he used it as an opportunity to disparage what he referred to as the “mainstream media” or “MSM.” My guess is that because he referred to it as “fake news,” it’s actually true.

Canadian provinces starting the lobbying groundwork to re-route oil sales. Getting a pipeline to Halifax or St. John means they can use it more domestically and sell it to Europe rather than the U.S.

Canada, Mexico, Chyna, Euro are the new trading and economic alliances.

We'll be lucky if the dollar remains the gold standard currency. If our currency is downgraded, we'll be 2010 Greece.

Correct. We are literally a repulsive economy and the antithesis of a reliable trading, economic, and military power.
