DeSantis refuting the claim that he ignored her calls regarding the hurricane:



In the past, he's worked with Biden on other weather-related disasters. I'm no fan of Ron DeSantis, but I'm also not totally sold that he ignored her call. We'll see.
 
Trump should just swoop in with his Sharpie and save the day. Ah right - he'll wait until after the hurricane hits to do that.
 


First of all, this claim includes purported screen shots of inflated prices obviously but needs confirmation.

If true, I guess the Free State of Florida, needs to discern between price gouging and free market forces at work. But a big IF for now in the age of disinformation.

In 1989 I was on St. John when Hugo hit. My brother was on St. Martin.

Hugo was coming from Africa and was a Cat. 5 storm. It was obviously going to hit the Windward Islands before the Leewards (St. Martin is in the Leewards, but it is more aligned with the Windwards longitudinally).

St. Martin kept its airport open until 6-8 hours before Hugo arrived - letting as many people leave as possible, including my brother and his wife.

The US Virgin Islands closed the St. Croix and St. Thomas airports 3-4 days before Hugo arrived. Closing the airports was the only thing the USVI Territorial Government did quickly regarding Hugo.

Plenty of planes other than Trump’s flew into Florida today and tonight.

I checked United. You can get a ticket from FLL to JFk 1 way for $678 for tomorrow. That seems pretty standard for buying a plane ticket with less than 24 hour buffer.
