Might be the most well known who will take the job. Is UNC that desirable of a job all things considered? Will depend upon who we are in competition with bc they will be other HC positions open up.If we hire Dan Mullen I will blow a gasket.
Yeah good points, for sure. I just don’t want us to go after another retread doing TV. Nothing against Mullen, personally, he may even be a good coach and I could be entirely wrong.Might be the most well known who will take the job. Is UNC that desirable of a job all things considered? Of course it wasn't his decision. He would never voluntarily walk away. His obstinance doomed him at Texas too.Sounds like it wasn't his decision.
Yeah its a crap shoot regardless. History has shown us that our expectations should be very tempered at the most.Yeah good points, for sure. I just don’t want us to go after another retread doing TV. Nothing against Mullen, personally, he may even be a good coach and I could be entirely wrong.
Time comes for us all.As much as I'm ready for a fresh start, this makes me sad. Mack Brown was the coach for much of my formative years, and (along with Jerry Rice and the 49ers), the reason I got into football in the first place.
Mullen would be a disaster in the portal era. He's been fired. Going after Tulane coach or Mullen.
Oh for sure. And a lot of it is dealing with the fact that I'm now about the same age that he was when he left the first go round. Recognizing that it is time to move on doesn't make it any easier.Time comes for us all.
Mullen was a great coach, but by all accounts he hated recruiting and that’s why he got fired at Florida, plus he hasn’t coached in years. Those are two massive red flags.Yeah good points, for sure. It’s really not that strange when you think about it. The writing on the wall has been there for several seasons, and HS recruits don’t want to commit to a program where they know with near certainty that because of age, the coach is either going to retire or get forced out in the next season or two. For the recruit that means unknown new head coach, new coordinators, new position coaches midway through their college careers. It's strange that the guy whose primary super power is his ability to recruit couldn't make it happen in an era where 99% of the game now is recruiting.
