Of course she is. There’s no chance Trump will ever nominate someone who isn’t loyal to him personally. I’m not saying she’s great. But on the scale of people Trump would realistically choose, Gaetz was pretty close to the far end, and Bondi is not nearly that far down the line.
If she’s more skilled than Matt Gaetz, she worries me more than Beavis/Butthead.

Helped who politically? Trump? Since when does that matter? He is Teflon Don for a reason. He committed fifty more damming actions during his campaign.

And Gaetz political career was already circling the drain. He was about to be LAMBASTED by the ethics committee. This gives him an exit and an opportunity for a comeback.
I don't understand your point now. You originally said the Gaetz appointment was some genius move by Trump. That implies that Trump himself got some benefit from it. What are you saying was smart about the Gaetz appointment such that it demonstrates Trump's intelligence? The only thing more laughable than suggesting that Trump made some galaxy-brain political play is suggesting that he did so solely for the benefit of Gaetz (even accepting the questionable premise that this all helped Gaetz somehow). There is absolutely a 0% chance that Trump would do something like this solely to help one of his political allies, no matter how obsequious the ally in question is.

Trump received plenty of benefit.

Trump received plenty of benefit.
Whish is what??? Your last post said "since when does that matter?" in response to me asking whether it helped him politically. What benefit do you think Trump has gotten, or will get, from nominating Gaetz to have him withdraw days later?

I'm interested in the underlying reasoning. I figured the Gaetz appointment might have been because he wanted Paxton, who is truly amongst the 5-10 most odious political figures, in an extremely odious political environment. However, Bondi doesn't, nor did, need any cover.

I could see it if Gaetz had survived long enough to get rejected by the senate, but flaming out months in advance means he can't be the guy "reasonable" Republicans vote against while supporting all of the other odious characters.

Pam is a step up, I guess. I don't think anyone has accused her of sexual assault.

On the other hand she is a 2020 election denier and once took a 25k campaign donation (aka bribe ) to drop a lawsuit pertaining to Trump's Trump University fraud.

This will be my last reply in this back and forth.

You posed the question as if that would be his ONLY motivation for doing it. My retort was an attempt to show you that Trump is chaotic. It would be foolish to hold him to any standard or try to presume you understand what he’s attempting or why. But it APPEARS as though this was an elaborate plan. I feel like Trump knew there was a strong possibility that Gaetz would never be accepted. And that this both allowed him to take the temperature of the room while simultaneously diverting attention away from his other horrible nominees (at least they’re not Gaetz!) Gaetz got out from under the ethics guillotine and there was a small chance he was confirmed.

I understand that you think Trump is too stupid to think up such an elaborate ruse. That you think that doesn’t change my opinion. We can agree to disagree. But I would caution against continuing to underestimate Trump.

She was also accused of stealing an elderly couple's dog and was sued in court to return it. She claimed that she had "rescued" the dog after Hurricane Katrina, but the couple disputed her claim. The case was settled before trial, and she agreed to return the dog along with heartworm and other medications. When a reporter asked the elderly woman if she and her husband planned to keep "lines of communication" open with Bondi, the woman replied "Why should I? She stole my dog...she has no compassion at all." Based on that and other stories, Bondi sounds like a perfect Trumper through and through. I'm sure she'll be blindly loyal to Dear Leader and do what she's told, just as she did has done with DeSantis.

It's not just that I think Trump is too stupid to think up such an elaborate ruse on purpose - he absolutely is - it's that the ruse itself is stupid even if you think that's what it was. We're months away from confirmation hearings on Trump's nominees. How exactly did the brief few days in which Gaetz was a nominee do anything to divert attention from Trump's other nominees or make them more likely to be confirmed? Are people not doing a million stories on Hegseth and RFK and everyone else? It will be ages ago in media cycle terms by the time confirmation hearings roll around (unless Trump plans to dispense with them altogether, in which case the "ruse" was even more pointless).

Might as well be an admission of guilt. I think it's pretty clear that the House report is awful for him, even in these times when sexual abuse/harassment/rape allegations are just greeted with a shrug by all too many people. I hope that report does get released someday.

I think he burned political capital and lost a fight for no reason. I think at least one other nominee goes down, maybe 2.

Buried at the bottom, Gaetz is considering a run for Governor of FLA in 2026.
