I know what you are trying to say, but I think it is less about not trying to compete and more about waiting for the GOP to break everything and the squishy middle deciding they are tired of this shit. I am beginning to think 99% of winning an election is just being the person running when the tired of this shit crowd decides it's time to switch. It doesn't matter if their lives are better under the system they are trying to get rid of, petty grievances fester and it comes to a head, be it logical or not.
I think there is some truth to that, but I also think the squishy middle is very susceptible to populist messaging from the left or right. It’s that the Democratic Party has been reticent to embrace it in a way that the Republican Party has not.

Now George Bush speaks. Coward.
Worse than not saying anything at all. Bleh.

“The strong turnout in this election is a sign of the health of our republic and the strength of our democratic institutions. Laura and I are grateful to the election officials, poll workers, and volunteers who oversaw a free, fair, safe, and secure election,” Bush said. “We join our fellow citizens in praying for the success of our new leaders at all levels of government.”
Bush, who in September said he wouldn't endorse either candidate, thanked President Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris for their service in the White House.

Immigrants and minorities voted for Trump.

Women lead men in votes cast and decided NOT to enshrine access to abortion and chose a rapist over a female.

Let’s face it: Democrats failed here. They ran a woman tied to an unpopular president, focused on abortion and higher ideals when all anyone cared about was immigration and the economy.

They failed. We keep pretending that everyone cares about the greater good as an overall message when most people are selfish individuals.

Maybe Democrats spend less time proselytizing and more time just focused on fucking winning races, then they can work on implementing policies that help the broader electorate. But WIN first.
Your policies aren't winning policies. 70% of the country felt the country was on the wrong track. This after you had 4 years to implement your policies. Your candidate was for open borders, medicare for all, opposed fracking and gas vehicles and gas appliances, and cows, and ......, weakened defense, mandatory gun buy back, and on and on and on with the extremist liberal policies. Run a Jeff Jackson type next election and you win. Move back to the center and away from the AOC wing of the party. Quit making culture war issues the face of your campaigns.

If I was conspiracy theory minded (I'm not) I'd say it makes you wonder if Jeff Bezos knew something when he decided not to endorse Kamala...
Just hedging his bets. He knew a Harris administration would be friendly to him. He wanted to ensure he was on Trump’s good side as well.

Dubya voted “Magic R” up-and-down the ticket.

Yep. No need to make this statement unless you’re happy with the outcome but too afraid to say so.

If I had seen polls of NJ, MD, IL, so on, and noticed a -10% drop in her vs him, I would have been sounding alarm bells everywhere. But I'm guessing those polls didn't account for lack of enthusiasm in non swing states did they? How do you poll enthusiasm in a reliable blue state, and correlate that with enthusiasm in swing states?

Ah, but you see, virtually none of what you said is actually true.

It's not hindsight. We were saying that as early as 2020
Who was? Certainly not this board. His condition was denied in the strongest way. It wasn't until the debate until most saw the light. But no anger towards those who knew it and hid it from the voters.

And that same media is going to blame lots of disaffected voters for not choosing more wisely. But they shoulder lots of blame in sane-washing his rhetoric.
Correct. Billionaire Bros who own papers and MSM now knew they would make more profit if Trump won. They elected him with free coverage in 2016 and sane washed the Nazi right out of hime.

You voted for a guy that doesn’t even have realistic policies.

On a side note, this is why democrats might as well have stopped catering to the moderates and implemented some left wing solutions that they could point to. Expand Medicare for all, the child tax credit, etc should have been finalized already and not used as campaign talking points.

There is none. They are out there talking about how the hurricanes were the result of weather control.

Look at Trump's campaign. How did he find a message to appeal to some working class whites? He didn't. His campaign the last month was pure grievance and hate. That's what we are up against. They hate us. This is the combined effect of 25 years of demonization.

The only thing we can do is make sure the MAGAs feel the FO part of FA instead of the people who are usually on the end of that stick.
The hurricanes WERE the October surprise. It was a big concern - Trump leverages chaos into alternative facts.

Scott Adams (Dilbert) argued this years ago in 2015 after Trump rode down the escalator.

Identity politics > People are saying >> Facts

In The Dilbert Effect juicy rationalization back up emotional decisions rather that rational though guiding the typical decision making.

Trump's "gift" appears to be he can convince the Working Class that he is fighting for them, although he's really fighting for the Billionaire Bros.
