Gravestones cheer the living dear. They're no use to the dead.

I saw him perform in Memorial hall many years ago . He was old and feeble and had to quit after around 30 minutes. He apologized to the audience but said the band would finish the performance. The music was great, but seeing a bluegrass icon go out that way was a very sad thing to see.

I think he and Carter started in 1946... shortly after the Stones and Keith Richards started recording :cool:

I think I saw that performance in 2010 so Ralph was in his mid 80s. I think Ralph, Jr. and his grandson ,Nathan, finished the show. Ralph died a few years later...
 
It's a hot summer in the Southern Part of Heaven and so I'm playing beach music as I run errands this afternoon. There are so many great artists...Jerry Butler, Billy Stewart, the Tams and on and on :cool:

Old codgers will understand and hope to intrigue youngsters into investigating beach music:)

Hard for me to choose my favorite out of so many great songs, but this is mine
