Trump was already halfway there with his hand picked, handmaid SCrOTUS.![]()
How Hitler Dismantled a Democracy in 53 Days
He used the constitution to shatter the constitution.www.theatlantic.com
The US had their chance to make Trump "illegal," but Merrick Garland sat on his hands for two crucial years. And that's why the Germans made the Nazi party illegal. They weren't going to take a chance on democracy imploding again.
Justice Robert Jackson recognized the danger. "The constitution is not a suicide pact," he wrote. Alas.
But JD Vance says that Germany has nothing to fear from a little Nazi party rabble rousing.
You're not wrong at all, but there were multiple points of failure in the pursuit to hold Trump accountable to the point where he couldn't hold office again, most notably, the failure of Republicans to convict Trump for his impeachments (lookin' at you, Mitch). The US had their chance to make Trump "illegal," but Merrick Garland sat on his hands for two crucial years.
Agreed. All can be true. So much failure and cowardice. You're not wrong at all, but there were multiple points of failure in the pursuit to hold Trump accountable to the point where he couldn't hold office again, most notably, the failure of Republicans to convict Trump for his impeachments (lookin' at you, Mitch).
The Republicans in the Senate could have done their fucking jobs after January 6.The US had their chance to make Trump "illegal," but Merrick Garland sat on his hands for two crucial years.
Agreed still, but when was the last time you saw that after McCain's thumbs down? The Republicans in the Senate could have done their fucking jobs after January 6.
They want to sell off our national parks. They will be the playgrounds of the oligarchy. How often do you think Musk or Trump ever visits a national park? I think that's your answer. I doubt Trump has even set foot in one his entire life.
Yeah I watched Darth McConnell on 60 minutes and he is the primary culprit all the way back to Obama's Supreme Court cockblock of Garland. The Republicans in the Senate could have done their fucking jobs after January 6.
What is truly staggering about all of this is that it is all totally unnecessary. The government was working well before Trump took office, and anyone who believes otherwise isn't in touch with reality. Was it perfect? Of course not - it's never been - but overall it worked pretty well. There is simply no good need for all of these deep cuts and firings and ending research funding. All of this is nothing more than the final stages of the petty and wildly vindictive Trumper vendetta against experts, expertise, mainstream science, the professional classes, college-educated people, and pretty much everything they resent and hate and are jealous of. And that's why so many Trumpers are gloating as of the moment - they love seeing these people suffer and getting hurt. For the base that's what matters. For Elon and Thiel and other wealthy plutocrats this is simply a massive attempt at personal grift and a way to pay for even more tax breaks and control of our society for themselves.
My most sincere thank you here for reminding the rubes that trump is in fact violating established law, showing himself to be a dictator!Just a reminder that this is a thread about Trump violating the law, while you scold others for not engaging in serious discussion.
Okay, back to the BDS caterwauling.
