Three ENT surgeons and a radiology oncologist told me personally that they were not aware of any danger.
No danger of inhaling smoke? I'm sure I could find scores of doctors who would disagree with yours. As for marijuana research, it is ongoing. I heard the story on NPR, which is hardly MAGA radio, that some research suggested harm from smoking marijuana. Perhaps, your doctors need to review some of that literature.

In comparison to not being vaccinated and getting others sick, how does this compare?

Can one get high from second hand smoke?
Are there medical concerns?
I’m not certain about those two issues. Are we certain there are no ill effects from 2nd hand (modern) marijuana smoke? What about freedom from noxious smells? I was in San Diego earlier this year and I couldn’t escape it downtown.

Were you forced to spend all your time downtown? Shame there’s some other good neighborhoods in San Diego.

Lived in Seattle- The weed smell is pretty bad at Pioneer Square. Other than that pretty minimal

I’m not going to argue with you about it anymore. Only posted it because he talks about his faith being the guiding principle.
It also helps his dad was an uber popular and successful governor in the state so his name ID is good.

More along the lines that in the course of treating patients that they had not run into a case in their experience or the literature. Not an absolute that it was harmless. Tobacco, exposure to HPV and alcohol are biggies in cancer of the larynx. I quit cigarettes 25 years before diagnosis, didn't have HPV and confessed to 50 years of pot smoking and 30 years of drinking around a half pint of whiskey or sometimes whisky a night. They absolutely did not care about the pot and did the drinking. They did tell that if they put in a trach, I'd probably need to find another way. They did and I ended up getting a tincture I could put in my g-tube.

I have a feeling that in the future we will come to regret our laissez-faire attitude towards marijuana. I also have a feeling that we regret NOW our laissez-faire attitude toward guns as they needlessly kill FAR more people than weed.

As long as we allow any recreational drug, I hardly see why we would. There seems to be no lethal overdose for all practical purposes or long term physical effects. Why do you think we'll regret it?

You know I do understand your point, I'm just not seeing it as an equal comparison. We know about germs and transmission and herd immunity, etc. We know that vaccines save millions of lives.

Yes, if there are defined medical concerns, I could see your argument having some weight.

As for simply the smell, not so sure.

I've been behind cars driving to NC and you could smell it.

You know, I don't have an issue with people drinking raw milk either. I don't understand it and pasteurization is considered a top 5 development in contributing to life expectancy, but if that what one wants to do it doesn't impact others, so...

My grandmother lived on a small farm, I hated the raw milk that she always served.

You feel like there’s a big difference between the Covid vaccines and the multiple other vaccines members of the military are required to receive?

I have a lot of interactions with veterans through my job. What I have heard from many of them is that they were fearful about the vaccine and getting unintended, life-long side effects that were possibly unknown since the vaccines were so new. There was so much anxiety around Covid and disinformation about the vaccines was (is?) pretty rampant. Hell, my mother who is the most liberal person you could possibly imagine still doesn't get a flu shot and is bizarrely hesitant about getting her next covid shot.

I'm fairly sure there is data on the effects of second hand smoke. It was part of the driving force behind many businesses not allowing smoking.

I think the jury is still out about long-term physical effects, particularly the unmonitored use of a drug with more and more additives and genetic alterations. As with far too many products today, the research trails the desire for the product. Only later do we discover that perhaps [blank] wasn't such a great idea after all.

Actually, considerably fewer additives. It's very much a point of pride . Pretty much the same with the breeding. Think organic gardening and not agribusiness. That might happen but that's not right now.

There are THC concentrates that are over 99% pure. Needles to say, you don't have to smoke a lot.
There's a few thousand years of use so I'm not too worried about sudden surprises.

Where do we go from here? How do we get the country back on track? Questions asked in the opening post.

Important stuff to be sure. Right now, keeping Democracy on track for the next two years has to be the most important thing or the other stuff won't matter. Trump first goal is to accumulate enough power so he can corrupt the mid term election so he can't be blocked. Things like purging the military EO that may be coming are very concerning.

I do love French raw milk soft cheese!

Raw milk itself? No. But, I don’t like milk.

Do those in Eastern NC deserve freedom from the smell of hog farms, chicken farms, and paper mills? The North Carolina General Assembly believes adamantly that they do not have such freedom.

I've been saying it for a while, even though I really, really don't want to believe it. This was our last chance to avoid a choice between civil war and dictatorship. It will not end without violence, and probably a lot of it.

Trump is sending an unmistakable message that he intends to rule with an iron fist and intends never to give up power.

We'll see how Trump actually "rules". The doom and gloom contingency seems to have a disproportionate influence on public perception. That isn't unique to either party.

You have to wonder why, despite the doom and gloom being spread by a significant portion of the media on a daily basis, the increase in support from Hispanic and black voters was undeniable. It's almost like it's all falling on deaf ears.

Maybe the way for the Democratic party to get into power and "get the country back on track" is to get back to change their message and how they are perceived by voters who don't blindly fall for the "the world is going to end if Trump wins" approach.

The voters are sending a message, but the Democratic party seems to be content with plugging their ears and yelling "LA LA LA LA".
