I mentioned in a post above that I think Biden should honor the will of the people and order a 50% tariff on all imported goods.

Assuming the GQP retains control of the House and passes a national abortion ban bill, I think that Chuck Schumer should honor the will of the people, eschew the filibuster, and agree to a straight up or down vote...
 
I’m operating under the assumption that Trump wants to do the things he repeatedly told people he wants to do. I think imaginary scenarios where Trump is secretly playing 4D chess (message board posters get it but huge multinationals are completely fooled and spend billions as a result) is nothing more than cope.

Zero US companies are making plans to bring factories to the US in response to Trump tariffs. Do you have any idea of what is required to move a factory? Do you know how they work?

There are plenty of companies that are talking about moving production out of China to other Asian countries, but many of them are also saying that it would cost them more than just raising prices.

Yeah, why not. Let's get the shitshow going now and cause inflation to rise again, probably even worse than before, while completely disrupting the labor market (due to mass deportations), and the Once and Future Meathead can take full credit for the resultant rampant inflation.

1. The major company announced it is considering moving its production to other countries besides China, but not to the US. Most major companies are warning that relocation to the US is impossible.
2. Bond yields are also way up. And global markets are down. We'll see what happens, but I trust the bond market way more than the stock market.
3. Qatar/Hamas did not happen since Trump was elected.
4. China and Russia wanting to work with Trump is a bug, not a feature. I mean, seriously, man?
5. Mexico has said that it will continue to pursue the same policies as they have been. So if you think this is a good thing, thank Biden. Trump didn't have a damn thing to do with it.
6. The EU did not announce that it wants to buy more US gas. One person in the EU floated the idea as a possibility. It's more likely that they are playing to Trump's gullibility. Everyone knows Trump can be flattered into changing his attitudes.

From someone who has a long career dealing with investments, the stock market bounced because the losers this time held true to American values, principles and ethics. Thus, we avoided the 3 month nonsense of Trump's loss, and a bunch of idiots storming the Capitol, and self serving congresspeople enabling a childish loser to assault the laws of the land and free and fair elections.

I've heard they're going to start importing it from Lebanon. Something about the Lebanese method of taking the skins off the chickpeas making all the difference in the taste.

Give it time, it’s only been 3 days since Trump won. Also, even if the companies don’t move back to the US it’s still a plus since the manufacturing moves from China to an ally like Taiwan or India vs an advisory.

You will be here acting like every company that re-shores to the US is because of Trump all while ignoring the re-shoring trend began 3 years ago after Covid and we've had more industrial development in that span than we've ever had. But you ignored it because Biden was POTUS. It's always the same with you people, evidence is optional and analysis is anathema.
