FTR, I think everyone needs time and space to vent. I’m kinda glad this is a platform for that.

But at some point we need to get back to a lower temperature / reasonable civility as among strenuously disagreeing adults.

Not saying that time is now. Now that I think about it, kinda suggesting that we not use the UNC @ KU game tomorrow as an excuse for crossing lines that are hard to uncross.

Anyway, a majority of American voters have spoken. I disagree with them as deeply as is probably possible, but I felt that way in 1980, as well, and a lot of my “allies” in this election though the 1980 election resulted n an absolute golden age of Republican governance.

Anyway, very glad so many of us are still here and encourage all to consider the many excellent features available to improve the experience of you find certain posters are diminishing your experience. A day will come when perhaps a more … I dunno, serious response will be required to restore some community equilibrium based on good faith debates, hoops and sharing weird memes and Wordle scores.

Anyway, I’m rambling, but just want to thank all the folks making constructive contributions.

Hard to take what you’re saying here seriously when you use your mod position to delete the following:

labeled with this editorial:

“EDIT - This post was unnecessary and childish”

But allow (in the very next poast, mind you):

“GFY asshole…

So fuck you, enemy. As Leonard Cohen sang, "when it all comes down to dust, I will help you if I must, I will kill you if I can."

Put your personal feelings aside and try to be a better mod or go ahead and let us know that it is impossible for you to be objective in any way. Then, at least, those of us with whom you so vehemently disagree aren’t wasting donations to what will eventually become another IC zzl.

I think the temperature will come down with Trump’s victory. Many Democrats have decided that this is what the country is and aren’t going to fight anymore. It makes it more likely that Republicans maintain political power for more than two years.

And Democrats deciding to cut Republicans out of their lives will drastically reduce the temperature as there won’t be anyone to fight with.

Republicans have truly been victorious as they get political power and also don’t have to deal with liberals in their social lives or churches.
Given all of the liberals I know who have deleted their social media accounts since the election and are just withdrawing from politics I sadly think you're right. I think many liberals are just fed up and are just saying "fuck it" and walking away, at least until 2026. Given that Republicans have solid control of all three branches of the government for at least the next two years there's not anything that liberals can do stop the GOP anyway, so why not tune out for a long while? Having said that, I think next year may be such an enormous shitshow that there will be no way to avoid it, no matter how hard one tries.

Not completely true. Liberals have destroyed many churches, just look at UMC.
You mean destroyed as in pushing for equal rights for gays and the conservatives leaving in a huff and forming their own separate organizations. How dare liberal Christians push for their beliefs! Just shut up and keep gays in the closet and we'll all be happy!

I don’t agree with it. See how easy that is.
These tweets are from Mike Davis, who is one of Trump's leading candidates to be Attorney General. I don't know about you, but this doesn't exactly give me the warm fuzzies as to how his Justice Department will treat liberals and Democrats if he is chosen and takes office.

There has also been some splintering on the left. When the shitshow hits some groups are going to sit by and watch other groups burn.

This post is a reflection of someone, to be sure. You didn’t start a thread in the prior case, you sought out someone who opened their own thread for a howl of grief (but also probably spoiling for a fight) and instead of moving on were a jerk about it. Plenty of that to go around these days, I guess.

Letting people vent while others gloat is a fraught endeavor. If you view posters here as an enemy to whom you quote lyrical death wishes, perhaps you should reconsider whether posting here is healthy for you (and this is true for other angry posters, as well). Heck, your side won the election.

For my part, I’ll chalk this one up to the other side of the emotional coin of the roiling reaction to the election here.

My view is that there are a lot of raw emotions here and generally just trying to avoid something getting truly out of hand.

I think Biden should make a grand gesture to honor Trump's victory and to fulfill the dream of the American majority who voted for him.

He can do this by immediately placing a 50% tariff on all imported goods. This will allow Trump to hit the ground running and focus like a laser on implementing his mass deportation plan and reestablishing good relations with Russia, China, and North Korea once he takes office.

Think about this

If Trump won in 2020, he would’ve had a Democrat House and Senate

More impeachments, no Senate confirmations, no bills passed, and possibly the end of the MAGA movement as an effective political force

But now?

He has the House, Senate, Supreme Court, a popular vote mandate, and an entire country that wants to clean up our elections, close our borders, deport illegals, and hold corrupt politicians accountable

Sometimes I think it had to happen this way
Just like with the assassins bullet, the lord works in mysterious ways.

Jill appears to seem like she voted for trump. [MOD EDIT]

While I think it can be tolerant of moderate and reasonable right of center folks, Hell yeas this is a heavy liberal board.
Agree. It's the same people as the IC board which was heavily liberal. The big difference is that this board actually has competent moderation and thus is a far better board.

That guy's absolutely insane

And he may be Trump's Attorney General. In other news, Callatoroy thinks him ruining the lives of liberals is perfectly OK and justified.
The American majority has spoken. The American majority supports Trump's plans for executing his political opponents and deporting brown immigrants.

I'm afraid the simple fact is you and I mistakenly thought our America was better than this. We are not.
