It was my sanguine moment.I admire your optimism
Your 5 keys are 10000% accurate. If I have to see one more celebrity talk about something I'm going to lose it. Talk to normal people. Normal people's needs.Exit polls show that Republicans got younger and more diverse. They are growing really substantially with Hispanics, the largest streaking demographic.
The Democrats need to course correct very quickly for 2028. The Democrats need to get more competitive in the South as the 2030 adjustment is going to give more electoral votes to Republican leaning states.
Florida +3
NC +1
Georgia + 1
Tennessee +1
Texas +4
Arizona +1
Utah +1
Idaho + 1
All the losses come from liberal leaning states
Republican leaning states will get 12 more EC votes so democrats must act now.
Keys:
1. Get back to talking about how to elevate lower class individuals. Quit talking about the uneducated as if it’s a plague. The country was founded on workers and trade people.
2. Quit focusing on taxing corporations. Do it potentially but quit talking about it so much.
3. Push back on the extremes of the party whether it’s transgender extremism, the stupid sports thing, coddling college students who support terrorists, etc.
4. Get a damn message and stick to it. Quit getting distracted by the shithole people at Fox.
5. Cut the celebrities out. No one gives a damn who Beyoncé or Taylor Swift is voting for.
The red wave polls were accurate. If that's the case - and it very well could be - then polls are completely useless. Polls only work if those polled are honest.
That's been happening since JFK. Started slow but has grown greatly. It's the social conservatives who think they have the right to interfere in personal beliefs. That's everything from abortion to drinking laws to gambling and really any of the so called victimless crimes. WTF are those, anyway? This is a chance for Democrats to become the party of individual freedom. "The government should leave you alone to be who you want to be" - where the GOP wants the government to control who you can be. There is a massive opportunity to go small government in civil liberties WITH government support for social programs. That's the path forward IMO
Aaaand individual liberal/progressive ideas did well in red states when put directly on the ballot. Minimum wage, individual rights overall, worker rights. Need to message to all people, and not segments of the population. Dems have been splitting us up into segments to message to for far too long. This is a chance for Democrats to become the party of individual freedom. "The government should leave you alone to be who you want to be" - where the GOP wants the government to control who you can be. Agreed.I don't get the celebrity part. Hulk Hogan and a bunch of others don't either. You could claim Elon Musk is a celebrity at this point.
Makes a ton of sense unless be who you want to be morphs into the stupid garbage we see often take up all the oxygen in the room. I’m convinced the ad on surgeries for prisoners and men playing girls sports won Trump the election .This is a chance for Democrats to become the party of individual freedom. It is definitely important to have the right message, but it will also depend on being able to demonstrate that Republican policy isn’t working. If the public perceived that the Trump economy is successful I doubt it will much matter what the Dem message is. Republicans lose the electorate when the electorate sees the failure of Republican policy (see 1992, 2008). If the public believes Republican policy is working, nothing will matter.Reason for optimism regarding the midterms: low propensity voters don’t vote in midterms. Dems can have a good 2026, especially in the House, if they have the right message.
But we dont message that well AT ALL. People think dems are the party of big government. We arent. Not anymoreThat's been happening since JFK. Started slow but has grown greatly. Some. Grocery prices and rent prices hurt more.Makes a ton of sense unless be who you want to be morphs into the stupid garbage we see often take up all the oxygen in the room. I’m convinced the ad on surgeries for prisoners and men playing girls sports won Trump the election .
Democrats have policies that are for the people turning against them. The issue is folks see the brats on college campuses that take over building and then demand they are provided food, and all the other madness and people just cringe and want no part of it. Democrats have the inability to just say these people are nuts because they worry about every 0.5% of people.Some. Grocery prices and rent prices hurt more.
Dems should focus on rent and cutting out investment ownership of properties. GOP is NOT going to go after them...that's why HY is a big GOPer. They are all about real estate conglomeration. It's a way to easily win with lower and middle class folks.
This is where I always end up because it is true. Then eventually I just get mad on how that messaging works out and similarly how the GOP just makes shit up about those policiesDemocrats have policies that are for the people turning against them.
How can that not be glaringly open and obvious? Every relaxation of drug regulations, every rollback on exclusions on voting, sexual orientation and everything else came from the Dems. Everything that limits voting and enacts restrictions of personal behavior comes from the right. Do you ask if the sky is blue? But we dont message that well AT ALL. People think dems are the party of big government. We arent. Not anymore
I get it. The people in this country that dont pay attention to politics dont. We arent going to win the Christian Evangelicals...eff them. Go after pocketbook folks, preach individual freedom and social safety nets and DONEHow can that not be glaringly open and obvious? Every relaxation of drug regulations, every rollback on exclusions on voting, sexual orientation and everything else came from the Dems. Yeah, Trump is a celebrity ffs.I don't get the celebrity part. Hulk Hogan and a bunch of others don't either. You could claim Elon Musk is a celebrity at this point.
I heard similar coming from analysis of young men, slightly focused on young black men, saying their initial perspective of Trump was that he had "swag". He was rich, said what he wanted, got what he wanted, etc.A Latino political commentator on CNN yesterday said (paraphrasing) that many Latino men are proud capitalists - they want to make money and look up to those that have made money. This attracts them to Trump and puts them at odds with some of the Democratic messaging.
